New World Rankings System | Grip Locked Clips

Ezra's brother Judah Aterhold has been creating a mathematical world rankings system for Disc Golf Illustrated. The system is heavily based on calculations and includes a "decay theory" to account for player performance over time. The formula involves points awarded when beating an opponent (y = 1 + (1/1201.756^92.87543)x) and a separate decay factor that reduces the score each week after a certain period. A new, improved formula was recently developed by Judah for the PGA golf world rankings, which takes into account factors like time decay, tier weighting, and event significance. The video explains these concepts in detail, providing an in-depth look at how Judah's system works and its implications for player ranking and competition. With a focus on Disc Golf Illustrated's unique approach to rankings, this video offers insights for players, coaches, and fans looking to understand the world of professional disc golf.

ezra's brother judah aterhold had been doing this for a while he's actually on instagram at disc golf illustrated i didn't know this has been going on he's been making these world rankings for quite some time now um and his is like heavily mathematically based well i mean he let me just read you the formula so you can understand when i say like well above what i understand right why there's like a decay theory involved well there's two there's a bunch of so the initial points formula the formula for the points each rating gives someone when they beat them is y equals what is this uh one one one three two one eight zero i think that's in millions plus and then in parentheses point five three four zero zero six eight minus one one one three two eight zero divided by 1 plus x divided by 1201.756 raised to the power of 92.87543 x equals the rating of the player you beat y equals a point you should receive from beating that player now what so um exactly that's when i look at that i'm like because brodia pitched this to me as a rating ratings world rankings that you can easily follow i know what's gonna happen so i was very excited for this and uh yeah i have no idea what's going on no idea there's also a decay formula the time decay factor um closely after the time decay factor for the ball golf world rankings uh it's a little more fluid so each week there's no decay for 13 weeks and each week after that loses 1.1 each week um so then he he created a new one though that was the golf one his new formula and then he puts a bunch of numbers so it's all shown below so you can read all of that it's on fdnsports.com it's our main one and then he also has a tier factor for b a pro tour slash nt which integer no longer exists so elite series event non worlds major and then worlds so that they're all weighted um and so he explains all this to get to this new world rankings which is actually drastically different well not drastically well goes drastically different from any current world rankings out there and it's again like a continual power struggle of...
