2023 so far has been a whirlwind we've watched young Challengers continue their Ascent we've seen New Blood making a mark on the game while veterans have struggled and succeeded in turn we've crowned new silver Champions and Elite Champions and a brand new major Champion despite all of this it does feel like there's been something missing and that's something is your 2022 Player of the Year Ricky y saki whether or not you're a fan of the two-time world champion his greatness and his impact on the game cannot be denied my name is Mason and welcome to the wind read today I want to talk about the return of Ricky wysocki what are our expectations for an all-time great returning from injury and what implications does Rick's return mean for the mpo field let's get into it I could deep dive into waisaki's storied career but let's simply start from last year in 2022 Rick won Texas states he won the dynamic disc open he won ledgestone and Green Mountain Championship the latter two being some of the most important and prestigious Elite events on the pro tour and of course his crowning achievement last year a playoff win at the Tour Championship the biggest purse in disc golf history there is a lot of talk last year and subtle shots were exchanged between Paul McBeth and Ricky wysocki about what's more important consistency throughout the year or success on the biggest stages unsurprisingly Ricky whose consistency was unmatched in 2022 argued for the former while Macbeth With Another World Championship under his belt argued for the latter no matter what side of this debate you're on when the dust settled in 2022 Ricky wysocki was without a doubt the player of the year he was a consistent threat in every tournament he played winning on a wide variety of course types from the open Plains of Kansas to the narrow Woods of Northwood black winning not in a single string of events but each of his wins coming in different sections of the Season Ricky finished 2022 third and birdie percentage second in part percentage and of surprise to no one first in scramble percentage Ricky wysaki's ability to save Strokes from dire situations is unmatched year after year after year outside of Anthony Barella in pre-injury Eagle I think there's barely anyone on the pro...
