welcome to another edition of this week in disc golf it's thursday july 21st i'm charlie eisenhood and let's talk about a busy week of action in the disc golf world first and foremost the european open is underway we are through one round over in nokia finland for the second major of the year for mpo and the third for fpo and it's been a hot start for a couple of key players eagle mcmahon making his return to the tour although briefly but he's back for european open he's dialing up the lefty backhand he may not be thrown for him this week because of the elbow injury but that's not stopping him from throwing down a 10 90 rated 12 under to put him in first place at the tournament one shot ahead of the dominant player at the european open paul macbeth macbeth looked so sharp off the tee for most of the round gets a little lucky action on the skip off the water and put together a ton of birdies particularly in the front nine coming in eight under through the front he kept it rolling a little bit of a slow finish for macbeth ends up leaving him one shot back on mcmahon but they are both a couple strokes clear of greg barsby and james conrad who both shot nine under par first rounds it's a phenomenal all-american lead card going into round two over in fpo cat merch is the star of day number one she shoots a four over par that's got her one shot ahead of katrina allen heidi lane and katy tate who are all at five over keep in mind that the fpo play the same layout as mpo at the beast in nokia finland jenny angstrom evelina salin just two shots off the lead and a lot of players still in the hunt including paige pierce who's four shots back of merch at eight over par pierce able to get four birdies on day one that's the most of anybody in the field but too many bogeys along the way we'll see if she can clean it up for round number two live coverage of the european open continues this week it starts at 2 a.m eastern time for fpo 8 a.m eastern time for mpo so if you want to stay up late or you're...
