we may have just witnessed one of the greatest if not the greatest season of Disc Golf in the history of fpo this was a sentiment that I heard quite often concerning Christian tatara's season last year here we are in 2023 in what Christian's done has made last year's season a historic year look like some sort of warm-up as the disc golf world already knows with her win at the 2023 United States women's Disc Golf Championship Kristin Tatar has completed the coveted major Grand Slam and she's done it self-contained in one season this year we have had front row seats VIP passes to history in the making my name is Mason and welcome to another episode of the wind read today I want to try to contextualize this I want to talk about just how ridiculous Kristen's 2023 season has been and what it truly means for the past and the future of the division let's dive into it I don't want to spend a ton of time trying to hyper analyze what season was actually the best in fbo's history any sports fan knows that these discussions are usually not the most fruitful and making meaningful comparisons is very difficult we want to celebrate what we're witnessing in the present while respecting the history of our beautiful sport for example if you go all the way back to the year 2001 there was an fpo season that was almost incomparable at the time there were no Elite series events or even a national tour yet in 2001 the legend Juliana Korver played in 22A tiers or majors and won 20 of them the other two being a second place finish at diglo and a 50th Place finish at usdgc this made her the only female player to ever cash at that event so if we're going purely by win rate maybe this was the best fpo season of all time but we're comparing apples to oranges even going back just six years ago there was another landmark season where Paige Pierce won a ridiculous 13 events including three Majors this was a legacy defining season for Paige but still comparisons are difficult the game is very different now and the talent pool has grown exponentially events are more competitive than ever and Kristen doing what she's doing in this climate is absurd so what do...
