we're here on the wooded Fairways of the JY Warner disc golf course at the international Disc Golf Center in Appling Georgia and when you play courses like this so deeply set in the woods you're bound to kick a tree or two into a really unfavorable position and if we can manage these positions with confidence we can set ourselves apart from the pack we can shave new nous Strokes off of our game every single round so today I'm going to talk to you about scrambling in the woods let's get into it so as we approach our lie we have to learn how to address it properly one of the biggest mistakes I see amateur players make is they don't approach their lies from scramble positions the same way they would approach a shot from a teapad players when they step up to to a new hole they've never seen before they walk up the Fairway they look at all the options they check to see if there's a creative line that suits their play style better and they take the option that suits them best when it comes to scrambling a lot of players instantly think they have to save the number and if they just treated their lie like the teapad of a new hole it would completely change the way you see it so if we step up to this lie here if this was a hole it'd be a tough hole but there's a defined line here you can go straight there's a couple trees up there to miss but we can at least Advance the Fairway in this situation I'm going to take whatever shot I'm most confident in and I'm going to just try to advance the Fairway forward because I'm confident hitting this Gap now we have to cover something very very important in this video and that's don't underestimate your pitch out if you feel like you've finally exhausted all options trying to scramble straight to the basket it might be time to start looking for a pitch out now this is something that I've even seen professional players do very poorly and it's that once they realize they cannot save a birdie or a par from where they are they get very frustrated and they don't take any time at all to Think Through where they're pitching out...
