joining us now is mma fighter julian marquez and you might be a veteran here to funky farms but you're relatively new to the sport of disc golf how did you find it man which this is crazy so i actually been a part of disc golf since about 2007 um and i didn't play as frequently as you're seeing now like the past couple years have been taking off a lot more i played it a lot when i moved to vegas but i wasn't able to play it for three years because when i tore my arm out in my fight i wasn't able to throw the disc so like i have a newfound love of it since the pandemic and since meeting everybody like it's probably the funnest most relaxing yet stressful game you can play and all of the other games and it's it's i have my heart and souls in it now of course our host here at the funky farms ben askren we've in wisconsin known about him and his career endeavors forever and then we knew he had to cross over into disc golf but can you draw any similarities i mean they feel is there anywhere where mma and disc golf cross over or or sit together in a venn diagram there's actually a lot there's a lot of mental like toughness you have to have on the course because if you're throwing a disc you're at a par four and you need to keep up and you shank one you have to scramble and figure your way out but yet say you go bogey on that hole and the next one you have to you know keep up with the pack but you're down you're thinking about the past you're thinking about what just happened so you feel like that's going to continue to happen it's the same thing in mma when you make one mistake you know you find yourself trying to recover from that mistake or that mental side of it you have to keep yourself in the positive mind so when it comes to the mental game this is something that can intertwine in both and also the mechanics of the body it's the same thing it's not about throwing as hard as you can as powerful as you can because those aren't the ones that are going...
