welcome back joined here now by event support Guru at the PDGA Andy Rothchild Andy a lot of rule changes this year the first one that sticks out to me is about the stance I think in the previous Seasons that stance rule that was changed previously was a little confusing can you talk to us about what that was before and what we've changed it to right so in 2023 the rule for stances was that anything uh within your lie that you're uh your body can basically reach that's what you can clear off the playing surface uh but of course what one player can reach within their stance or within that lie is completely different from what another player can um you know so if one player is not very height uh or is height challenge shall we say they're not going to be able to clear as much as someone else and when it comes down to it we want players to be able to commit to this throw that they're uh running up to perhaps in a fairway On a par 4 or something like that so now the rule has changed so that anything that is dead and unattached still same as before that is further from the target than your lie you can remove from the playing field so if there is a big old dead Branch or something that is in your runup and it can't quite reach your stance you can still move that now so that's fair to all players because now regardless of how long your reach is you can still clear that off of your uh your playing surface I think it's a fantastic rule I think it clears out a lot of gray areas a lot of things like this feels unfair to me as a player because I'm 5' 7 not 6'6 um I I I think this is much better and again safety is a huge deal here in discol footing is already Tough Enough in our sport as it is uh even from teads so I think this is a great rule change uh next up though we got to talk about scoring a lot of things have change with scoring and I also like this change making the game a little bit more legitimate yeah well I I love this change as well...
