2026 Rose City Open - R1P2 - Gibson, Nelson, Bowden, Ngo
The 2026 Rose City Open, hosted at Pier Park in Portland, Oregon, delivers an electrifying back nine for the R1P2 group featuring Drew Gibson, Chris Nelson, Bowden, and Ngo. Commentators Ian Anderson and Cory Merl provide expert analysis as the players navigate the challenging and scenic course. Gibson, currently riding an impressive double-ham bone streak, faces the demanding 11th hole, a 542-foot par 4. The elevated teepad offers significant distance potential, enticing players to aim for an eagle at the beautifully crafted basket location, which features a distinctive rock wall. Despite his strong form, Gibson experiences an unpredictable kick on his drive, forcing him to scramble for a tricky up-and-down birdie. Nelson and Bowden also contend with the course’s specific hazards, managing fades and pushes near leafy trees and trunks to maintain their hallway to the basket. The broadcast highlights unique course aesthetics, comparing the hole’s vibe to the famous "cathedral" on hole six and the "dream catcher" drone shot earlier in the round. This segment captures the high-stakes atmosphere, technical shot analysis, and the sheer skill of a quality group of disc golfers competing in one of the sport’s premier events.

Welcome back to beautiful Portland, Oregon and Pier Park for the 2026 Rose City Open. I am Ian Anderson joined by Cory Merl. Been a fun front 10. You ready for the back? >> A stoked man. We got good golf, a great place, and a quality group of guys to join along the way. a Mac. No, kind of making it known. I think he's birdied half the holes at this point. And I just love being able to get a drone shot of that dream catcher, man. I don't know if anybody's ever seen it that close. First time for me at least. >> Yeah, that was really cool, man. There are your scores through 10. Drew Gibson on an official double ham bone here. >> Yeah, he he's on a tear. Eight under and eight in a row. Looking to make it nine here on a pretty birdable whole par 4, hole 11. 542 ft. The elevated teapad really means you can bite off a lot. And I think for the biggest arms, they are definitely giving it a bid for eagle. The green has been built up. Really one of the more beautiful basket locations with a rock wall and and kind of a coolealt along the way. This one you mentioned the cathedral on hole six. And I think this one kind of has that aesthetic as well. >> Oh, it sure does. Along the kind of like 15, too. Y >> Gibson didn't like his swing there. Well, he slipped. Nearly fell. >> Yeah. Um, kicks quite a bit short left. It's going to make for a tricky second for the up and down birdie. >> No. >> Overly release, but what a kiss. >> Kick kiss. Whatever that was. >> That's beyond a kiss. That is a full-blown session. >> It's at least second base. There's Chris Nelson. That's fading left. But you actually kind of like left, Cory, don't you? I think I would prefer the left miss. Uh there is a leafy big bushy tree on the right side to contend with if you're short right. So short left you end up with just some trunks to navigate. Tener >> similar miss. As long as he pushes Yeah. past those little leafes he's he's in business. >> Yeah. They'll have a hallway to the bucket from there likely. Gibson after the...
