Hammer Throw In Wind | Brodie Smith

Watch as professional hammer thrower Brodie Smith shares expert tips on throwing a hammer in windy conditions. With his guidance, you'll learn how to adjust your technique to maximize distance and accuracy despite strong gusts. One key strategy Smith emphasizes is playing zone defense if you have a teammate with exceptional upwind hammer skills - it can open up your offense significantly. Brodie Smith also discusses the nuances of throwing a hammer in windy conditions, including how to throw it more than vertical and create an exaggerated motion to counteract wind resistance. To achieve this flatter trajectory, you'll need to adjust your grip and release to ensure the hammer flies on a solid line rather than soaring too high. By following Smith's advice, you'll improve your chances of landing a successful hammer throw in even the gustiest of winds.

all right so now we're going to do a hammer a lot of times when it's windy like this teams will play zone if you have someone on your team that can throw a 20 30 yard upwind Hammer that's really going to open up your offense okay the big things with the hammer you're not going to throw it vertical you're actually going to throw it more than vertical if that makes sense okay a lot of you guys may throw your hammers it's coming out like this or do this when you're throwing into the wind it needs to be so exaggerated cuz it's going to turn over the other thing too is you can't throw it high it's got to come out almost on a solid line okay it's got to come flatter than normal so I'm going to demonstrate that right now that's how you throw a hammer in the Wind
