ARP | 2026 Appalachia Open | R2/B9 | Fish : Hammersten : Burchett : Lengel | MPO LEAD CARD
The 2026 Appalachia Open continues at Mayflower, where players are navigating vastly different scoring conditions compared to round one. Music sponsors of this event include Visit Virginia's Blue Ridge and Prodigy, with Infinite Discs helping make coverage possible. Host Conrad highlights the leaderboard, which shows Matt in the lead, seven under par, while Zack Peters trails closely at six under through 13 holes. Conrad takes viewers through hole 10, a challenging par-three with tall grass on the left that's not marked as out of bounds. Players can land safely within it, but a big power forehand is required to reach the birdie opportunity. A backhand play is also an option, but it risks getting stuck in late trees. The host provides insight into strategy and technique, emphasizing the importance of controlling shots and avoiding obstacles like the trees that are likely to catch players off guard if they don't execute their shots perfectly.

[music] >> Welcome once again to continuing action from the 2026 Appalachia Open. Big thank you to the supporting [music] sponsors of this event, Visit Virginia's Blue Ridge and Prodigy. And of course, a shout out to our friends over at Infinite Discs for helping to make [music] this coverage possible. Conrad, we are out here at Mayflower, a vastly [music] different uh set of scoring conditions on this course. >> [music] >> A lot of more birdies than we saw during round one, looking to hopefully continue the same on the back nine, O.J. >> A lot less bogeys, as well. [music] Taking a look at the leaderboard here, we see that Matt is still up top, seven under. Zack Peters, six [music] under through 13. Andrew Fish is still there at the top four, as well as David Flick making a move up through 15 holes. >> Yeah, we're going to [music] kick things off here on hole 10, a par three, a bit of a long one, 440 [music] ft. You got this tall grass on the left, which I don't believe is playing as out of bounds. A lot of the tall grass out here is not marked as OB, so [music] you can still land in there and be safe. See some power heisers kind of playing out here, and then kind of chip [music] up shots. This is a tough one to get to. If you've got a big power forehand, you can try to get all the way up there and get yourself to look for the birdie. >> [music] >> Just brings a lot of uh a lot of danger to try to go for this one. >> There is also a backhand play, but it's going to bring in some late trees if you try to go that way route. >> Yeah, the backhands normally that I've seen kind of are >> That needs to get left quick. And it did not get left enough. >> Yeah, the backhand play I've seen on this kind of from from the other cards, almost seems to be a just to play for par. >> That's going to be inside the trees. Is he going to be able to get under or through? Not quite. Not quite. Oh, well, the roll may help open up his next shot a little bit on the on...
