The Buzz Just Got Real — Community, Directory, and Private Messaging Are Live

We've been building something quietly for a while now. Today, it's live.
Disc Golf Buzz started as a content platform. Our content has now grown to over 21,000 videos, 2,500 podcasts, 4,300 courses, 2,300 discs, all in one place. That part still exists, still free, still growing every day. But content was never the whole picture. The whole picture is community. And as of today, that community is open.
Here's what just went live.

## A public directory of disc golf's people
Every club, course, tournament organizer, and pro player on Disc Golf Buzz now has a public profile page at `discgolf.buzz/directory/[username]`. Not a social media feed. Not an algorithm-curated highlight reel. A real page, with real information — your branded subdomain, your contact details, your PDGA number if you're a player, your club's home course if you're an organizer.
The directory lives at **discgolf.buzz/directory**. It's searchable, filterable by type, and publicly accessible to anyone. No login required to discover who's here. That's intentional — the directory is how the disc golf world finds you.
If you're a paid member, your page is already there. Go check it out.

## A private community for members
Behind the public directory is something only members can access: **discgolf.buzz/community**.
This is the internal view — every member, searchable, with direct access to send a private message to anyone in the community. No middleman. No public timeline. Just disc golfers who paid to be here, connected directly to each other.
If you're a club admin trying to reach a course operator about a tournament, you can do that now. If you're a pro player wanting to connect with another pro, you can do that now. The community directory exists specifically to make those connections possible without requiring anyone to share a phone number or dig through social media.
---
## Community chat with real access control
The chat community at **chat.discgolf.buzz** now has proper access control baked in:
**General** is open to everyone with a free Explorer account. Come in, look around, see what the conversation is like.
**Course Talk, Tournament Discussion, Buy Sell Trade, Clubs, and Founders** are member-only. These channels exist for the people who are actually invested in the platform — and they're gated to keep the signal-to-noise ratio high.
Private messaging in the community is also member-only. If you want to DM someone, you need to be a paid member. That's not a limitation — it's a feature. It means the person reaching out to you in a DM is someone who committed to being here.

## Founding Member — the price that never changes
We launched with a Founding Member tier at **$2.99/month**. That price is locked forever for anyone who signs up during the founding period.
Not locked for a year. Not locked until the next pricing update. Locked for the life of your membership. As long as you're subscribed, you pay $2.99/month — regardless of what we build, what we add, or what the standard membership costs in the future.
The standard Member tier is $4.99/month. Both get the same features. The only difference is the price, and the Founding Member badge on your profile and in the directory.
We're not putting a date on when the founding period closes. We're putting a number on it: **100 spots**. When 100 people have claimed Founding Member status, it's gone. At the time of writing, there are fewer than 10 of those spots taken.

## What's included in a paid membership
Here's the full picture of what membership unlocks:
**Your own subdomain.** Every paid member gets `yourname.mydiscgolf.buzz` — a fully branded page for your club, course, tournament, or player profile. Logo, hero image, description, contact links, social handles, donation links. It's your space on the disc golf internet.
**The member directory.** Your public profile at `discgolf.buzz/directory/[username]` and access to the private community directory to connect with other members.
**Community channels.** Full access to Course Talk, Tournament Discussion, Buy Sell Trade, Clubs, and the Founders channel.
**Private messaging.** Direct messages with any other paid member through the community platform.
**The Founding Member badge** (if you sign up during the founding period) displayed on your profile and directory listing permanently.
**A say in what gets built.** We're a small, independent platform. When a paying member asks for something, we listen. That's not a marketing line — it's just how it works when there are no investors and no ad revenue to optimize for.

## How to join
If you already have a free Explorer account, upgrading is straightforward. Go to **discgolf.buzz/register?plan=founding**, create your account if you don't have one, and claim your subdomain.
If you're coming in fresh:
1. Go to **discgolf.buzz/register?plan=founding**
2. Create your account
3. Set up your subdomain (`yourname.mydiscgolf.buzz`)
4. Complete checkout — $2.99/month, cancel anytime
Your profile goes live in the directory immediately. Your community access is active the moment payment processes. No waiting period, no manual approval.

## What's coming
The disc database now has over 2,500 PDGA-approved discs with full specs and descriptions. The course directory has 4,341 courses with maps, photos, and volunteer contacts. The video archive has 19,500+ videos from every major disc golf channel, all transcribed.
We're connecting those dots. Disc pages linking to pro players known for throwing them. Course pages linking to videos filmed there. Player profiles linking to their PDGA stats. The platform is becoming a genuine reference for the sport — not a social network built on top of disc golf content, but a disc golf resource with community built into it.
If that sounds like something worth being part of, now is the time.
**discgolf.buzz/register?plan=founding**
The counter is running.
