welcome back to Bonanza disc golf into another episode of project 100 where I take you along my off season training to go from an ma1 disc golfer to playing some Pro Tour events next year as I train to be full-time on tour because that's a lot of what this channel is about so if you're interested in that stuff subscribe after watching the video and you know that you like it right now we are at UCF University of Central Florida hole 12 we're going to play almost 12 through 18. this one's 230 feet it looks like straight up the gut here and I'm going to explain what we're doing along the way two this is a problem already for the video because I don't exactly know what I'm wanting to throw here I have a couple options I could throw a mid-range just a little bit softer back load my grip meaning that I throw it with a little more control than front loading which gives you more power and I kind of like that because of the low ceiling I could also try a putter or try an overstable putting approach disc like my tactic here which is what I think I would like to do ideally I just don't quite have trust in this disc or this shot right now should be simple just gotta hit the line into the high ceiling that brings me to what we need to talk about today I was hoping to not get to that already so today's video is going to be about how to know what to focus on in your training at the beginning of project 100 I had like these main goals hey I want to add 100 feet of distance I'm going to put a lot I'm going to do a non-discoff workout and I actually realized I needed to hire a coach so I actually hired Josh from overthrow disc golf to be my actual coach for disc golf and the first thing they had me do was a little frustrating and I didn't really like it and that's what we're doing in today's video however even though I didn't really like it it was still a really good thing for my game got about a 60 foot putt wind is coming left to right all right shoot a little short didn't really open my hand all the way but it says Paradigm for how to get better at disc golf which even though I wasn't the biggest fan of like doing it initially 100 is something that you should do whether it's in one round whether that's in watching back footage that you have of yourself or whether that's over the course of a month or so I took a par not the end of the world but that's losing Strokes to people who are birding this hole and the main thing that we need to talk about is how to make sure that we're doing the right things to fix the things that are costing us Strokes so if I'm going to be honest my very first coaching session that I paid for with Josh I thought was going to be like us creating a plan together but also a little bit looking at my backhand form because I'm like that's the main thing I need to work on I need to get distance I need to work on my backhand form and that was true and we have done that feature coaching session but in the first coaching session the main thing that we focused on honestly was what I'm going to call and he probably has a different name for it Strokes lost worksheet I'm gonna put one on the side of the screen here for that last hole and we're gonna do it for every hole and we need to think about for me driving up shots and putting and the ways that I'm losing Strokes whether that is strategical like how I'm playing the whole what are the mental things the physical things the form things and the focus things that I'm not doing so mentally on that hole I didn't really think I was going to miss that putt thought I was going to make that putt even though it was from 60 feet so that's good mentally off the tee the only thing that would have been a problem was indecision and not full trust in my disc choice because I haven't had as much time with those exo hard tactics I really like my Razor claws I had a lot of time with an old Zone and I wasn't really comfortable with that and so there was a little indecision and that probably led me to not commit which leads us into a second thing which was a form problem and that form problem for me is first off we're like completely revamping my form so I'm trying to focus on that while I'm also filming all these videos but the form thing is nose up and because there were nose up they went into that ceiling there now things go nose up for me for a couple reasons one of them is a lack of commitment which is a lot of what it probably was shows itself in lack of follow-through but another form thing in my putt was not opening my hand fully and fully extending that to get that full commitment on the putting side of things and the one last thing would be the wind read I didn't really on the T have the wind read that is really pushing us from the left to the right and so they've probably lifted our disc a little bit because there was a tail as well so they're just all those things that I should think about and if I noticed that during a round this this could be a very long round and it was a little bit frustrating the first time I did it because I kept realizing I'm doing this wrong I'm doing this wrong I'm doing this wrong and you're really focusing on those things that you're doing wrong but you're going to notice over these seven holes that we're playing and if you do it over a full round and even just take inventory every two holes it's going to be massive in showing you the ways that you're potentially losing Strokes to the field and for me on a course like this where everything pretty much is a par three I feel like I should be able to get all 18 of these holes so if I don't get a birdie or even if I do get a birdie but it's either with a good putt or with a lucky kick or something I need to figure out the ways that I could be losing Strokes so we're going to move on to our second hole here oh this is whole 15. where's hole 13. over there the basket's way down there I think I'm probably going to throw a flippier Grace one of my flippier discs that I have in here this red one make sure that I put it on some hyzer just to flip it up through this Gap so that it rides straight and doesn't go into the woods or it doesn't go into the left something I did bad last hole was a wind read so I want to make sure that I get this pretty solid headwind so it should actually help to keep it turned over because we are not aimed in the best Direction off this t-pad but we should be able to still have a good shot foreign man this new form work feels so awkward I tried to do it there it probably looks so ugly Josh I hope you're not watching this video dude good shot though overall that's what I wanted from that shot maybe pushing a little further but I'm really not focusing on crazy speed or distance there I'm just trying to get it out into the middle the only notes I would have is continue working on my form which I already know and I'm planning on doing because I maybe hit my chest a little bit just didn't feel very comfortable because I've been really focusing on slowly trying to integrate the form and that was my first distance-ish shot and I didn't want to revert to my old ways and I know I can get 400 feet with my old ways but I don't want to try to get that I just want to play Simple all right wind read There was good now we're pretty much straight headwind so I'm going to note that I'm going to look at our distance I think we're about 190 not even close 240 feet out just the forehand I could throw a turnover but in the headwind I think a stable forehand probably with my felon keep it out to the left on some hyzer because the headwind will keep it stood up and it should be able to push on the hyzer and the headwind is also looks like now coming a little bit from the right to the left I could definitely disc up here but I think just keeping low hyzer is good and the forehand keeps us away from the out of bounds oh baby what do you think I did wrong there well those are police probably that honestly could have been attributed to I felt like I had to throw that harder than if I was throwing a Rive even though it's only 240 feet I feel a little more comfortable oh my gosh I think twofold there one I could just say nose up but why was it nose up and it was nose up because I felt like I had to rip it and because of that I didn't even follow through with my hips as well as I could have it's so fun to realize why you're bad at disc golf so this is interesting we have OB right behind the basket my putt feels good but I know that there's a tail which could drop the putt I could run it but I think the safe play and the smart play to not lose Strokes here underneath the basket take a really easy par because I think my putt's good so I'm going to go for it real fast and that's how you go be oh sit and bounce but that's how you go OB really fast I was the right play that was a really good play unfortunate but smart so we're even through two and I already talk a lot so this one's 58 yards 180 feet just on the other side of that Palmetto so I'm just going to intro the holes play them out and then give you my ideas what I would put on the sheet in terms of what I need to fix and honestly there might be things that like I'm overlooking but that's okay because there are big issues that I can fix now and then we can figure out the rest of it later a little bit of win so I'm gonna think I'm gonna play the low skip shot with an overstable mid-range foreign 15 is about 215 feet just up and around I am noticing though right now my shoulder right not my shoulder even right here feeling a little strained I mean I did lift for the first time with some new muscles yesterday I'm feeling a little strange so I'm just going to make sure that I baby that a good form on this one I think I'm just gonna throw that same overstable mid leave it out there let it come back Kobe razor cloth 3 but I've actually been appreciating this one more all right that was just a lack of speed that's lack of commitment because I didn't want to hurt myself honestly it feels fine that feels totally fine so should be good just a little wary all right here's a little important thing well first off I should have just actually thrown this the distance I could have also disked up to a fairway but here we got a couple options I mean I could just go straight at it here it's a little tight no matter what but I should probably get down because of the low ceiling so now I have much more ceiling to work with this is a very tight shot oh good bit guess my notes there just practice silly putting places all right hole 16 another 216 footer straight ahead of us probably just could be forehand or backhand I think inner core backhand though is probably my Play Here could be something more stable on a hyzer but I like the straight shot right now the Heiser is probably a little safer but I feel like straight it's a little bit less work on my body foreign a little bit wider could have thrown a little bit higher could throw a little flatter I don't think that's a really big disc so he says you probably just a lot of this is just I need to work more on my form that's so much of what it is and when I did do this I did it at Tom Brown Park playing from the Longs like basically the Tallahassee open layout and I was just like everything that I was missing I was missing those up and a lot of that is just commitment which comes through having a good follow through and then also a lot of that's just mental like believing in my game and knowing that I can hit that so hopefully we can get down to our three down all right actually a little shorter than I thought I thought it was going to be pin High all right hole 17's only like 170 feet is it like the shortest holes in the world gonna be just another inner core shot because we don't want to put something that's too overstable because there it could roll down the back side of the hill and go out of bounds into the basket short but perfect so before we get to Hole 18 I like I said I did have a coaching session with Josh and all my coaching sessions with Josh as well as any other coaching that I have with another trainer who is a licensed athletic trainer his name is also Josh I'm doing my lifting programming with any coaching sessions like that stuff I'm going to be putting those on my patreon for all tier levels to get access to so if you want access to like the more full version of what those sessions entail that'll all be over there some of them well it's parked up could just be a little bit boring so I don't keep them on the main Channel and that way people who are supporting me at a little bit deeper level get access to some cool stuff that doesn't really make for great videos but can be good content if you want to mine through all of it for the gold well that's pretty good let's go ahead and uh all right Unholy team all right hole 18 here it's another 210 foot shot super slanty t-pad not great but I could throw the inner core but there's a wind pushing us off the lake which is helpful and I don't want to have to like throw a perfect shot obviously I want to throw a broke shot but I want the disc to mitigate my misses so I'm going to throw my tactic which I'm gonna put just out to the right hugging that Shoreline flat and it should stable right in close to that basket okay not the most ideal shot honestly a little bit short I think just putting everything on a little bit more highs right now it's causing that so maybe I should have dissed up to my just like straight mid working on my form things are coming out a little bit more hyzer just because that's the easier shot so I'm wondering I'm gonna try the inner core now just to see I'm gonna try to keep it straight at it foreign I thought I was gonna win in for a second all right one last putt to get us four down one do it again not extending my hand not committing I just have oh I have commitment issues I guess guys sad day for my wife who I've been married to for four years I guess I just got commitment issues but there is a next logical question as to like why am I not committing on my forehand and backhand I need my pot sometimes pot I think is a little bit different than forehand and backhand my putt is a little bit because I'm like just timid of like the wind a lot of that is what it is I'm timid of putting in the wind so I just need to get more work putting in the wind more reps but in terms of forehand and backhand I think the main reason why is because I don't trust my form which is why for me formwork is so important right now because I'm not trusting that I can really hit what I want to hit 100 of the time if I don't trust my form and actually hitting my spots that's the main thing I'm needing to work on which is why my commitment issues are both practicing that follow through and making sure that every single time that I throw I'm following through so that it feels weirder to not follow through but also getting the Reps in with my backhand and forehand to get that down those videos will be coming soon but if you want to check out a video about how I feel like I fixed the majority of my main forehand problems check it out right up here feel much more confident with it now even though that super nose up one didn't really tell you that much backhand videos coming soon workout videos coming soon go to my patreon if you want just subscribe to the Channel please like the video please I really appreciate you guys even just watching this far and getting through all this craziness because this is definitely something that you should do in your game even if it's just one round just go out and try it it'll be frustrating but it'll be really good for you okay love you bye
