welcome back to botanza disc golf today we're going to be doing pov disc golf in grand junction and i'm going to be playing watson island which is actually a 24 hole course before we got here i actually stopped at triple play records got rid of a decent amount of discs that were in the bin of stuff that i just never use and picked up four new guys and somehow by trading in 11 discs buying four i still wound up 30 out of pocket this is what we're looking at though i picked up an envy and then we got a couple really cool ones first was a jeremy culling thunderbird this is the one that i came out of pocket for just because it was on sale for 23. and i throw a thunderbird and i like jeremy culling a lot and i am taking out my raid and i'm actually also going to take out my other pharaoh because i found two kristen tatar orbit graces so beautiful i've been looking for graces forever i can't believe that they still had these i cannot wait to throw these see how they fly but i've been looking for graces for a while so these are for sure going in the bag throw my name on these guys and then we'll get out to play these 24 holes i've never been here before but goal will be to be under par it looks like hole one is right ahead there's a big group i hope there's a practice basket go ahead and make sure i'm warm hopefully my putt is on okay if you want to join us obviously there were so many people at the course this day so i did just hop into this group so we'll be doing a little bit of voiceover a little bit of just talking inside of the victim video itself but here we are at hole one which has a lot of ob because all sidewalk and beyond in this course rob the basket you can't really see off the tee it's kind of where that circle was so i'm throwing my thunderbird at it and just straight into a tree i definitely think that warming up would have been helpful all right so with the baskets right in front of us i just decided to take my zone at it do a little forehand just try to see if something was feeling good that's it thought it was perfect i honestly landed like 15 feet now let me just give you a little context before what happens is about to happen the day before i recorded this video i recorded the video where i was in fruit of colorado which has already come out where i just missed a billion pots good way to start and uh yeah we'll see yesterday could not put foreign moving on a hole too some of these distances are going to be weird because i played this about a month and a half ago and the distances are weird i think it's about 300 feet throwing a firebird here right to the basket honestly it was a decent shot it just my firebird for some reason it's like 169 grams so it's not nearly as stable as a firework just rolling forever let myself about 20 feet which honestly shouldn't be the end of the world maybe it's closer to 35 do you have a low ceiling though with those branches that's it i think i put it close i mean i'll take apart not that bad so while we're looking at the setup for hole number three i figured it's a good time to introduce you to some of the characters here we got lucky who's teen off right now and you'll also get to know your girl who's gonna drain some sweet pots later as well as cole who has one of probably my favorite highlights from the whole video coming closer to the end around whole maybe 20-ish stay unstable oh a little wind oh is that ob that sidewalk yes oh i did not know there was ob there so after having thought that i threw the perfect shot and i had to take it in from ob and here we got bill putting from inside the pit not just draining a straddle stepper that was sick he's gonna add a couple more of those cool ones my putt obviously i'm gonna hit no nope chained out left side that's so bad it's hard when you can't putt yep it is hard to play this gum when you cannot punch but we tap it in for the fork so two bogeys three four four plus two through three holes get on the whole floor here we got a really simple shot it's like how close is the sidewalk behind it the sidewalk is probably 30 to 40 foot behind okay so now i haven't been traumatized by going to be in the last sidewalk i decided to toss my zone out there and honestly give it a little bit of a bit that would have been sweet jeez i need to get some practice butts in straight ahead of us right yeah the old five doesn't actually have a placement on the t sign they were saying it's about 480 490 feet and you have to go over a river that if you don't sneak past it it's just going to take your disc all the way down so i decided to throw my arrive because i think i can push about 420ish i give myself at least some sort of a look i thought i hit the perfect shot and then i just somehow smacked into a tree i did not see that tree until my disk hit the tree and we were a little bit worried if i was actually sat down there or not oh it's right here yeah i would try to put this if i was on flat ground maybe but looks like we're going my stable zone and with that honestly being a pretty decent upshot it's time for a putting clinic apparently bill smacks one now lucky from about 35 as well cole drained his and then i have a five foot putt which somehow is still a tester for me but i got there we go made one we are on to the signature hole of the course and it is honestly the signature hole for a reason you got to cross over this bridge there's about four or five extra holes that are on this side and this hole is one of the coolest ones that i've ever played not long but pretty difficult because it's a double double through the cloud's mouth sick right envy better be as good as everyone says oh i went straight into that mud on that throw it's a bar it's a par it's five something 29. so even though it's only 4.29 you have a mando underneath those train tracks because it's illegal to go over them so it is a par four so i'm just gonna throw out a distance driver i was gonna throw my graces but since my first day with him i threw him as a second shot which i'll show you but here we're just pumping out a ride trying to get it straight but i end up yanking a little bit come back there's another position over there that you were like dude if you were to poke that straight that was beautiful i know i just i flipped it over too much so here's my first ever shot with an orbit grace also if anyone has any graces that they're looking to get rid of reach out to me on instagram i want to find some and i can't find them anywhere because this shot my first shot i mean just easy distance crushed it that was a sick shot all right can't go over these tracks 360-ish derive right here forehand is safer because then i got a better look yeah yeah yep get over ah get it come on dude i've changed out left side four times today whole see just going straight up they got 268 underneath the train tracks again honestly thoughts are perfect but juice did a tiny tiny bit maybe should have thrown a putter at it not too angry with the shot though should make it but knowing me i just changed my mindset i gotta make these and i was aiming right too zero birdie so quickly we have like 18 months left all right looks like a zone and it looks like his own because it's only 237 feet pretty much on a straight hyzer line here put it out there honestly that throw felt real good and i finally at my first night getting to look for it even though i was a little disappointed with it in the moment for some reason my driving hasn't been bad but my putting these past two days has been atrocious yep finally holy cow plus one through nine and let's get under par now i made one hopefully the birdies will start to flow and i really hope they do but we went back across the bridge to hole six it's got about 200 feet 250 maybe i decided to throw my firebird at it it's kind of right in the middle of all those trees right there and the reason that you can't see that throw is because i was dumb and forgot to ride i didn't miss that shot on gopro but through firebird probably about 25 31 maybe we'll see gave myself a little bit of a look though which is good i had a headwind putt so i was a little scared a little head went but made it happen i'm really bad at keeping my head directing at my shot though so i'm so sorry about that that's something i still totally work on here we are our whole seven 320 feet basically straight ahead of us we do have to get over this initial log which makes the forehand a little bit more difficult i decided to throw kind of a flex backhand a little bit of an anhyzer when i was thinking with my firebird but i decided to go my least stable t-bird three i think i'm not flexing because i got a tail so slight anhyzer line and the tailwind should help to stable it out but it doesn't really help too much when uh you might just happen to throw it into a tree all right but i left myself with a decent line i should really trust my forehand more because there's a great flex round over that and i threw my arrive and it's sitting like 10 feet from the basket right now i think we're going to james conrad this and run it with the envy get it eight you just says 354 i think it's close for like 290-ish so i decided to actually throw it beforehand you know only thing you gotta worry about not throwing it into the ground don't turf it should be easy oh but i guess if you don't end up spinning get enough luck i'm gonna have to leave that out enough it's sometimes you gotta really capitalize on those lucky breaks the course gets you ob is sidewalk and beyond yeah well yeah it's in the a position so the a position is only like 200 feet maybe just a little bit to the right stock hyzer i thought it was a little longer i guess because i was wanting to stall heiser firebird because there was a little bit of wind out there and i was honestly asking about the sidewalk that was on the left not the sidewalk that was long yeah before calls i think i smacked the tree and barely stayed in bounds but went so freaking sense you almost went ov that's a firebird oh yeah i'm definitely just trying to pitch up and take a part i'll try the zone flick i think that's the best option i have as long as i missed that tree throw it on a pretty steep hyzer and try to get through these two trees here honestly maybe justice instead nope i hit the tree that's so hard i like over here so apparently they switched the positioning so it's not where it normally is and the way that they play this is actually double mando through those two trees it's probably about 200-ish feet you're playing to 18's basket i decided to try to flex it through the double mando oh smack the tree but still made it through the mando so we're counting that as safe and hopefully going to be able to get through for three oh that was the pool there's my second throw with my other zone that just like went right over the basket was perfect i love how second guy's always so much better than me slow right over that bush that'll do all right now we're moving on to actual hole 10 which is 339 feet kind of a little shorter than that probably closer to 300 you actually have two mandos you have to go to the left of the first tree to the right of the second tree if you missed the mando's you go to a drop zone i started throwing my emac truth which looking back was definitely the wrong decision i did not turn it over nearly enough it would have been good if i would have turned it over a bit but i just had the tendency of throwing it flat i should have either thrown a meteor or just a forehand so i take my zone here from the drop zone honestly i almost put that in luckily sidewalk beyond this isn't actually ob there we go so now we're getting into the stretch of this course that really makes it pretty unique there's a couple of these different holes that have two different t-pads a couple that have two different baskets that you play as par sixes so this one we're flipping and since we hit tails we're playing from the brick t-pad over to the right and after we play this there'll be a couple other holes that i might have to explain where we throw two off the tee to two different baskets as part sixes which will be a lot of fun we just didn't decide to do that on this one and this one i decided to throw his own whole 11. it's only like 250 ish maybe a little bit less honestly after you see this throw give it a little bit of an ace run did end up a little bit behind the basket but ace runs are so freaking fun there we go the putt is feeling a lot better so i'm honestly still a little bit salty about this hole it's hole number 12 302 because it's a low ceiling so i wanted to skip it up there first throw with my jeremy clinton thunderbird jeremy coleman better not let me down here because i thought it'd be either equally or a little bit more stable than mine because it's not beat in thought i threw the perfect thread oh come on just smack stand i was playing for the big skip and i just hit all this super sand right here come on i gotta putt slightly nope safe at least where the heck is the 700 foot hole no this is okay so check this out you can play this as a double hole but our card oh says the pull 24 is two holes gotcha and 13b 13b runs all the way to the end but they're playing this is a par 3 for 700 feet yeah that's wild i know so we're really only about 300 feet i'm throwing my rock three i think it's actually a dx rocket on a proact three going to throw a hyzer line on it and hope that it flips up and then flips back to hyzer through it exactly how i wanted to hit it but this disc just flips up and rides straight so i left myself with a look but not great all right no i think we're going the new grace 13b is 395 feet the start of the last six holes really pumped to throw this i do not know how this is going to fly but i'm going to try to hyper flip it again that's more stable than i thought it was i'm excited for these graces especially as we beat in a bit but also just learning how they fly i think i have to throw it flat to get that turn that i want from the hyzer flip so i'll keep trying that but this is awesome i have such a low ceiling try to give it a really nose up stalli guy oh got through at least oh almost went out of there you either want to do like a flippy thing that s is back or do you want to come over here hyzer and get around the first tree almost aiming at the second i think it's gonna be zone on that hyzer so this one's blind about 250 feet took the zone that's got to run that's gotta run well i didn't think it was that perfect but apparently i thought i was long i was a little shorty they're barely sitting but i'll take it thunderbird not a drum thunderbird champ thunderbird hole 15 this is where one of my favorite highlights of the day is it's about 300 with the forehand because he's got a manual left of the tree throw a champ thunderbird out there pretty happy with the shot didn't quite juice it though definitely gotta work on my forehand it's a lot shorter than i would what a shot what a shot i didn't see that line same thing so uh let's pick hanger or jail so the reason that they're asking hanger or jail is because hole 16 they call it a par 6 on this 24 hole layout it's 501 feet combined i think probably closer to 650 because we have two different holes there's a hole called jail which is just like right behind a bunch of trees and then there's a hanging hole so we throw two disks off the t which is kind of like local rules here in grand junction really cool thing to do and never really seen it happen before and so i'm throwing a putter at the first one envy just yank it terrible shot and then went ahead and threw my grace which didn't end up throwing good at all it was only about 350ish feet and that one is going to the left a little bit i you cannot see from the tee i did not know where it was but i just kind of trusted him and tossed out had no right shot so now let's finish these two out and you add up your total amount of strokes after you finish out jail you finish out hanger and there's also a pretty fun local rule that i had to do at the end of hangar as well nope that's awesome so on hold 17 we once again had the same six that we played but this one's actually a little bit more special and lucky's going to share a little bit of a bench that he built here which is for a purpose what some uh local disc golfers commit suicide oh no and i did my first charity event i started a suicide awareness fun disco event called the survivor bowl and it went off phenomenal we raised a thousand dollars from 70 people in one day oh nice donated to local colleges yeah awareness program yeah my first event that's so cool phenomenal congrats and so we did this thing and this is his bench up here also events that i yeah made as a memorial for my friend yeah it isn't painted like the rest yet but it will be so we played both tees this one from the bricks in otter of him and then we also played the other one to make this a parsley six could be the perfect kaiser flipping hole but oh boy flippy or get the creek first shot i was pretty happy about honestly just went a little bit about the basket kind of gave it a run here we have the second one i decided to throw my meteor just straight up the gut instead of trying to do a big hyzer ended up being all right if not just a little bit short oh does it drop off behind the basket or is there is it safe if i run it or no the hill tapers off and it'll roll all the way down to the river all right well i still feel like running it so it's probably bad good good oh i was wanting the four oh wow that's really down the hill ah and try it got a six and now in the last hole let's get to down two but at least keep our down one so that we can beat par here good round two around good run get around around get around it's right there oh it's that yeah it's really short thick and empty straight at it there we go two down honestly not the best round but since i've been recording it was nice to just be able to play with some other people and so thanks lucky bill and cole for let me play with you guys it was such a pleasure you guys were awesome before i get into my recap for today if you want to play with me check out my instagram that'll normally be up to date with where i'm going to be location wise and if i'm close you should challenge me to something because i think i'm gonna make it so that if you win you can take any disc you want from me that's not either in my bag or sentimental maybe even one that's in my bag i'm not gonna count back literally every stroke because i'll do that enough in the edit and be mad at myself but i'm pretty sure if i would have made all my putts or at least have like a decent putter like within 20 feet i probably down six or seven definitely want to come back and play this course but if you want to watch that first video of refrigerator check it out over here all my pov disc golf videos from utah are over here let me know what courses you want me to play next or what videos also we gotta get some outro going if you have any ideas for like a good outro let me know see you next one
