all right guys we need to talk about something it's been on my mind for a very long time but I've never had fully formed thoughts about it I've just kind of thought about it in my head I guess that's where everyone thinks thoughts but here's the thing mold minimalization as a concept for how to organize your bag is so dumb and I realized that from experience let me snag this whole big thing so they could talk about this Insanity okay so right now these plus all this is all of my disco that's everything I thought most of these honestly are for review videos I got putting Putters and then I have some backups of my own discs now if you don't know mold minimization essentially is when you take your bag and you try to minimalize down to just like one putter that you have if you're overstable stable and understable Slots same for mid-ranges Ferry drivers distance drivers you might have some utility discs in here there are some weird things like the Berg but for the most part you try to keep as few moles in your bag as possible and I really tried this I really subscribed to this when I started playing disc golf the better I've got at this golf and the more that I continue to try it the more I've hated my bag and so recently I've stopped doing mold mineralization it's really hard to say that fast and I already talked fast so just hard for me to say that word but I feel like I've gotten so much better and more confident with my bag as I've stopped but real quick before we get into the main reasons why I think this is dumb I have a deal that I want to strike with you guys my main goal is to cash at a Pro Tour event I've been doing a lot of tournament Vlogs and things and playing in ma1 recently and I feel confident that if I want to I can move into the mpo division so here's my compromise with you guys if we get to 15 000 subscribers by the end of December for my first round of my first pro tournament which I will have coverage of on my channel I will wear a shirt and pants that are designed by you guys to say and look however you want we have to keep it PDGA legal obviously and it can't be offensive but that's not all because I genuinely think that we can hit 20 000 subscribers by the end of this month and there are going to be step goals along the way and these goals do accumulate and this is going to run until December 31st Eastern Standard Time so subscribe if you haven't but at 16 000. I'll let you guys vote on 18 phrases that I have to say during that first round of coverage because I'm going to be miked up while I'm wearing whatever stupid thing and I'm not going to be able to tell any of my card mates what I'm doing at 17 000 you guys will be able able to choose a food that I eat before every single hole in that first round as well hopefully I won't throw up over those 18 holes for 18 000 we're going to do a live stream where you guys will vote on every single disc that I put in my bag for that tournament and I have to throw them all at least once during that round it's probably going to be the worst round of my life just in terms of my ability to play it but at 19 000 for every Mist putt that I have during this round I'll have to do 20 push-ups right before I tee off on the next hole and at 20 000 you'll get all this for my first mpo tournament but I'll also let you guys design another shirt and pants combination including the hat that I will have to wear on my first round ever on the disc golf pro tour so whenever that comes up coverage again will be on my channel oh gosh I want to get to 20K but I don't want to have to do that because that'll be very embarrassing that's my proposition to you honestly I feel much happier just talking about this than the fact that we're gonna have to talk about stupid momentalization right now I still can't say that word but let's get into it so my bag right now my putter pocket I have three Piers two putting Piers one throwing pier and actually this will get us started because I used to have this pure in my bag as well right here it's an opto pure and it flies very straight whereas this is my very flippy pier and the problem was this was my Workhorse pure I would throw this all the time on whatever it kind of flies more like a mid-range and then when I would pull this guy out even though it's a pure and even though this is like according to mold minimalization the perfect thing to do because it has the same hand feel and I'll be able to feel confident throwing this mold whenever I pull this out I would never trust how flippy it is because it feels the same as the other pure and this is what I realized the concept of mold minimalization at least what I understood it to be for most people is that when you have fewer molds in your bag you would be so confident because it's the same mold in your hand and when you throw that disc you have confidence with that disc you can just have them in different stages of wear and tear so I have this Grace right now which is the newest one that I just put into my bag and this is kind of the exception but we'll get to that later this is my other Grace which is a little bit flippier so I can trust that it won't be as stable and be a little straighter where are they all these guys as well are Graces this is flippier than the one I have in my bag this is flippier than the one I have in my bag this is flippier than the one I have in my bag this is flippier than the one I have in my bag and then these two are as stable as the most overstable ones and this is the main problem when I get a disc I get it for its flight and then as it beats in it has a different flight however it's still that same especially if it's a stable or overstable disc it's still that same disc so if you throw it slow enough it'll fly more similar to how you originally through the disc so to me that just means it's a slightly touchier version of the same exact disk so when I pulled these two out and I genuinely don't think that I'm going to keep these two in the bag for much longer at the same time I expected this to do what this does for a very long time as it got beaten past the point that I thought it was throwable for how I like to throw it and I genuinely got this Grace because of mold minimalization and I had these two in the bag at different points in time because of mold minimalization because I thought if I just keep these three in the bag I will have my overstable my just regular stable and my under stable slot covered with one of the same discs the problem is I didn't get the grace to be an understable driver I got it to be a very workable very far stable driver and so when it's not that in my brain I hold this disc and I think okay I know how this feels this is gonna be a stable driver and it's just not this is my main complaint with people who think that mold minimalization is all that and to be completely fair with them if it works for them it works for them I just don't think that it'll work for most people in today's day and age when there are so many different Plastics available there's so many different discs available and in my opinion just have a different disc for each flight that you're looking for because discs takes so long to beat in nowadays and once it gets beat in past where you want it to be you can just get another one and for people who are playing casually that's like what once every eight to 12 months unless you're hitting every single tree and all of your local wooded courses but I play more than probably most people in disc golf because I review this golf I play just for fun myself and that's one of the reasons why I had so many Graces because I wanted backups because as I realized that some of my Graces get too flippy like this one I really want to be in the back because I love this grace and the red one as well which is even flippier than this one I really want these to go in the bag but when I throw them they're just absolutely not what I want a Grace to do when I throw it now I could reframe that and be like okay well this grace is going to do this and this grace is going to do something else and this grace is going to do something else but to be honest with you I think a Grace to just do what a Grace should do and there should be another disc that it fits that flippier slot so I have a video coming out next week because every day in December just like every day in November I'm putting out a video but two videos a day the first through the eighth you know we gotta do double duty because everybody is doing what I already do but one of the videos that I just filmed recently was an onyx vs Thunderbird versus something else review that I'm not gonna say a third thing because it wasn't exactly the best thing to review with it and you'll have to wait and see and a lot of that was because I had this Thunderbird and then I reviewed it against this Thunderbird right here and I used to have five or six more Thunderbirds that I ended up giving away honestly most of my discs in mystery boxes which are saying how the heck did you give away most of your discs when you still have that many discs I just got a lot of discs to review and the thing is this Thunderbird right here I absolutely love and loved it's more of a jolly launcher Champion I believe I heard hunter say something like that on foundations podcast and it's not like today's Champion plastic like this is very different than this and this is the only Thunderbird that I've ever liked I previously had some star Thunderbirds that were super overstable and I used to put that in my bag along with this as my overstable Fairway slot but I never pulled it out because it didn't seem like it was different enough in my hand even though the flights were pretty different and so I never trusted myself to trust that it was going to be that overstable so I never ended up throwing it unlike most people who think mold minimization is it it gave me the opposite confidence which someone just called there's confidence uncomfortable I don't actually know what that word is all that to say though what I realized when I was actually doing this review is that I need to take this out of my bag because I don't know where I could find other Factory second Jelly launcher Thunderbirds and as you can tell this has been used plenty but it also just doesn't give me the flight that a Thunderbird should to me and these ones I hate how they feel the new Champion so even though I can replace it with Thunderbird I had to take it out of my bag and I took it out of my bag today and there were some holes that I would have thrown it on and I think I wouldn't have gotten birdies like I did because I actually shot eight down which is it's pretty cool to be honest I've had this video in the works for a while which is actually going to be a rebuttal to Robbie C disc golf and some people over at Foundation disc golf who have talked a lot about mold minimalization in the past however literally like a couple days ago maybe last week on in the bag they actually had a discussion about this and I thought I was going to get some like fuel for the fire for this video that I can disagree with them on but they were just very reasonable which is kind of annoying because I wanted this to be more of a hot take than it is but I would definitely go listen to that podcast it flushes out more things that I don't fully agree with with because everybody has their own opinion this is disc golf and you don't have to agree with my opinion that's okay you're still welcome here even if you're wrong and one of the things that they had said on that podcast is that mold minimalization kind of goes back to the old days of a lot of disc golf companies when Innova had only a couple really great molds and people would have avrs rocks Thunderbirds Destroyers I think is what they said and they would cycle different molds from overstable down to very flippy in those same discs they even said on that podcast that a lot of the newer players probably wouldn't understand mold minimalism which I don't and I think is stupid since I got started in January this year because nowadays like I think I probably have 45 different molds that all fly slightly different on this rack right here and then another like 10 in my bag and if you're looking in each of the putter mid-range Fairway and Driver slot for something that is overstable regular stable or straight flyer and then understable for me I would just rather have different molds in each of those slots instead of trying to finesse in three or four of the same discs even my favorite discs Graces some of these I don't know if I'll ever throw again except for the practice form and field work actually there is one reason but we'll get that in a second because they just don't fit what I think a Grace should do the one reason why I would keep these is because these flippier ones these three specifically right here that I would never ever throw I'm actually planning on potentially moving to Denver as just a home base because I like it there and there's a lot of good disc golf and you're going to Elevation bring your flip your ones that you've moved past your bag and keep those because these will fly probably very similar to how I want my normal Graces to fly at those higher elevations okay I'm taking a quick breath let's actually real quick go over my bag and I'll share with you the hypocrisy that I have in this video because right now in my putter slot I have a very beaten Zone which actually probably shouldn't be in my bag because I would need to beat in the zone forever for it to be like this a razor claw three my inner core which is straight normal stable and then my pure which is flippy which I actually probably want to get a new flippy putter because this is a very very beaten Eco pure and I want something that's this flippy but this for some reason even though this is the only pair that I bag right now I still get opto pure in my head when I think about throwing it and I just don't trust that it's going to be as flippy as I want it to be all the time and then I'll end up releasing it not on as much hyzer and then it'll just burn into the ground because I don't know my own discs that I've been on my bag for six months I also have my two putting Putters two more putting Putters because I like to practice and then for mid-ranges right now I just have my fuse and then I do have two emac truths this disc is slightly straighter than a normal emac truth is but I really like the flip up and flight that I can get out of it and so I have a new one as well as this one and this I never wanted to get to the point where it's like super flippy like this so once it starts to turn too much this one hopefully will be beat into the point that it's more like this and I'll be able to have this lot covered again but this one is has just that touch more of stability that little bit less turn when I throw it that it's not an overstable mid-range but it's not a flip up to straight mid-range like this one is that's really the only time that I think that you should have multiples in your bag when they cover slight variations that you definitely know and can feel but once it gets to the point that you're not trusting the disc because it's not doing what you think that slot of this should do I'll just take it out of your bag and then in my Fairways I have a river right now which I also want to take out of my bag and replace it with something else to give me suggestions I found which I like for that overstable slot and I used to have an overstable Thunderbird and then a regular Thunderbird but this is what I think an overstable disc should be so that's why it stays in my bag because I throw it and it does win over stable this should be for my normal Fairway right now I have the birdie strike which I absolutely love and actually just order 10 more of these because for me this disc is the perfect spareway driver but it will get to a point as I throw it into a billion trees that is going to be flippier than I want in this slot and I might keep it because it might be really nice hyzer flip for a while until it hits too many trees still and then I want to be able to replace it with a new disc because I'd rather just put a new disc in my bag and then my last ones are these two Graces because I do like the flip up that I get out of this one compared to this but this probably I'm trusting it less and less and less and I see it's days in my bag are numbered and then arrive and enforcer neither of which I have a great relationship with but they're still in there because I need overstable distance driver's lot here's the thing most people aren't actually going to play enough to make cycling molds into their bag a thing that even makes sense for them because genuinely there are so many good discs and so many good molds nowadays that you don't need to cycle discs and if you still want to you want to be old school you want to be wrong you can go ahead and do that and this isn't coming from somebody who hasn't tried and wanted to like mold minimalization that's a mold minimalist right over there but I've realized that the more molds that I put in my bag to cover the different slots instead of trying to have one mold cover all of them for me the more confident I bet in my bag and the better I have played because everybody's been on this channel for a while knows I like to talk so if you have any other topics that you want to put Danza rant on we could probably make that happen I don't have a lot of hot takes and stuff this is just something that I had been thinking about for a long time and as I changed my bag I felt like it was right to make this video so I'll link the in the bag podcast down below but if you want to check out the first video that I did from today check it out up here don't forget to subscribe so you make me do all that stupid stuff but at the same time don't subscribe so I don't have to do any of it and if you're not interested in a bonanza battle video go ahead and check out my review of the birdie disc golf supply discs right down here the strike and the Marvel I'll see you guys tomorrow morning at like 9 or 10 a.m and then again later in the day with a bonanza battle so you don't want to miss it maybe you do maybe to like this video but if you did like it like it and subscribe please all this is just my opinion obviously this is the internet that's all there is on the Internet is opinions if you disagree that's okay you're still welcome here but like I said okay love you bye
