welcome back to Bonanza disc golf today it's tournament day my third Tournament of the month feel a little weird because this tea time today is so late or 2 15 or something working this morning and not coming here so that just feels a little weird in general but you get the bag out and get some practice in and then get on the course don't really have a lot to say I'm trying to cash obviously I want to win I want to play a thousand rated round but I want to set my expectations of caching so that I just play the best that I can instead of really trying to do anything crazy and like try to get the win and really fight for that obviously if I'm in position I want to win but I want to be setting my expectations just a little bit lower to make sure that I can not only hit them but exceed them instead of always just having expectations we win because this is only my third ma1 tournament it's my third of the fourth tournaments that I'm playing this month and it's a two round tee time so this is gonna be the first round I'm gonna try to get some footage for you guys on the course while I'm throwing so I'm gonna warm up and we'll cut to all that and I'll see you guys after the round thank you a lot of wind not feeling the best but I know that I am good enough to play well I don't know how I'm gonna play today I'm just gonna try to play my ability play smart and safe don't think I really need to get aggressive especially first round just trying to catch getting the round started really fast here at hole one getting a little Windbreak then sending out my Orbit Grace which is my more of a stable Grace it's 357 feet and this ended up being an alright shot you'll see the puck coming up here stepping up to this putt I just had so much nerve I don't know my adrenaline was going everything felt weird did not feel good coming out of my hand got some footage at hole two as well which is the longest part three 423 feet except my ride out there really high and nose up just not a good shot but it's all right because I was able to get up and down for the part we ended up pouring the next hole and then getting two more birdies and now we're on hole five or six I believe just a simple Toro Chip Shot around the corner left me with a pretty easy tap in next hole is nine the longest hole on the track just under 600 feet down this really tight quarter and I throw my grace thought that it would be a little more stable than this but honestly it ends up being a pretty solid shot what happens next isn't fun though just bluffed it and then I thought I turned my camera off ended up being on this whole time and so when I pressed record after I set it down right here showing you my lie it turned off there we are a whole 10. this is a hold that for some reason I struggle with even though it's a really easy 285 foot forehand I just don't seem to have the right disc or the right forehand touch and so I turn over my Thunderbird solid up shot so I can take the par and then move on to 11 which is a really fun hole 350 feet pretty much just straight up this little Gap and the basket is on a hill so cash I threw my Explorer and I'll explain why that might not have been the best decision here in a second I think I still should trust that remember because the lack of fade like I talked about my practice round video about that little headwind you don't want to make me turn this over and I haven't practiced this this into a admin really which I need to do for no fade Gap shot but pretty solid I'll have a look it's kind of funny I missed a putt on eight from 22 feet or so first Circle Miss of the round nine fluff my up shot hold ten plus my drive now I got a good drive let's put together a good Putt and get back to our birdie ways The Cutting stroke is nothing confident today but you still gonna give them looks so let's pick up that confidence I'm a good putter I can make these spots after that I don't really record anything else until the whole 18 where I almost forgot to record the last shot because I always do first shot lash out of the round but here's maybe the last shot yep pretty solid finish that does it for round one but let's get changed real fast because uh got the super nice long sleeve shirt for the genuine classic which is really fun talk to the round I haven't even looked at scores or ratings yet got a nice md3 as well which I'm stoked about played all right just First Impressions before we even take a look at overall scores my body was so bad though I think I missed four or five inside the circle putts like one that you've already saw like what the definitely gonna practice putting today I just didn't feel confident on a single Putt and like I couldn't I was trying to let's get confident I was too confident I just couldn't get confident but I was throwing a disc pretty decently a bunch of opportunities that you already saw this course is very scorable so it can definitely come out here and shoot a lot better tomorrow let's quickly take a look and see where I am ranked I'm nervous I was five Strokes ahead of my card but it still did not feel like a great round overall oh I was zoomed in fun I'm really trying to not let this affect tomorrow before we even look at anything I'm just trying to see hey where am I what's my round rating mostly just to report with you guys and take a look at my scorecard to see where I could have done better because so many opportunities started with a birdie and didn't give it up until hole 17 only one bogey I'm super stoked about most of the cards well I guess I don't even have a good rating because most of the cars are so we're the second card so I'm gonna have to re-update you let's go to live I mean I'm tied one right now but people are there's some people who are through 10 holes someone's down 6 through 13 another person's down six through fifteen but I was down six through Fourteen and then I didn't get another bird except for the end to get back my bogey it says 967 right now which is pretty cool if that's what it stays I mean if people are shooting how they're shooting now and they like don't light it up which it doesn't look like anyone's playing particularly great that might stay relatively there because the ending holes like aren't the easiest but there's definitely birdies that I've missed this shirt's so comfortable I love this and this is such a cool little stamp for this disc I'll update you guys before this video is live because I'm gonna put it up tomorrow probably like while I'm in my next round I don't think I'll stay tired for first today and I'm totally okay with that I like I said I'm just trying to make cash 30 people 29 because one dnf was that 12 people make cash so I just have to stay top 12 which I don't think I'll really be outside of mentally going tripod just broke mentally going into tomorrow just practicing putting okay I just finished practice putting without filming it obviously and I think I figured out why I was missing so many pots it's a pretty easy fix honestly for me right now the big thing is as I was going down I was just kind of going loud like this like kind of Limp hand and there's not a lot of power in that one changer just cocking my wrist back so going down like that and I'm spinning it out of my hand that alone gives me another like 10 or 15 feet of straight distance like not height difference but just straight so really focusing on that tomorrow just that when I go down my hand boom I think I'll make a lot more of my circle one piece I'm much more online when I put like that so really gonna focus on a point and do that and I think we should improve our circle on putting and that should help us to shoot a really good round tomorrow trying to just tell myself that I'm gonna put her and I can make those putts because for some reason mentally I just could not do that for myself today there was one important thing that I forgot to mention that when I was talking with my wife just about my round that I uh implemented that really helped me to continue to shoot a good score because normally I'm confident in my putting and for some reason ever since Holland even though I made the birdie there I was not confident with my Putt and like never got that confidence inside a circle one kind of a little bit more in circle too because it's a little bit less Stakes but even then because I was not confident with my circle one putting outside of like 10 15 feet and luckily I was parking some baskets I made sure that if I had a long bid or Circle two look I would give it a very soft run if I even gave it around like I was so comfortable laying out from 50 feet and like making sure that my misses stay close to the basket because if I'm missed and it went far like that's a bogey opportunity for me if mentally I can't put well and like I just haven't proved that I've been putting well at all today so that's something important as well that it's okay to totally concede that and like I didn't feel like I was playing great at all and at the end now like I'm tied first we'll see what where that ends up being but I think I'll still be top 10 somewhere in there and a lot of that's because I'm not trying to get too aggressive for mentally where I am and what my skill level is I'm not trying to get too aggressive on like throw in so I'm not making 30-foot putts I'm not trying to get too aggressive on my 70 foot pods if I'm not making 20 foot putts confidently because I don't want to add any stress to myself because that'll hurt my mental game and I want to make sure that I get the best score possible not do the most flashy thing for me today the best score possible was me not really running anything past 50 feet if I didn't feel like there's a confident backstop or feel really good about that part just another thing that I thought about when I was talking with Carissa that really helped my game today to come out with a relatively solid score even when my plate felt really bad it really did this pretty well except for a couple of Toro forehands that I just need to focus on getting my chest up because I keep going and like shouldering it which puts it into the ground just like whole 18 which I didn't show but that's why I got to that Circle two position and then my upshot that you already saw on hole nine which I could have got an easy Birdie on and I still almost made birdie for my putt which I hit the front cage that I thought was recording and it wasn't I mean I'm not sad and to go almost bogey free except for that one stupid hole and honestly almost make the par I missed the 30-foot putt after an unreal turnover I was super happy with so I mean one bogey is not the end of the world and that's what I caught myself going up to that so it didn't really affect me going into the next level because I was like what's one Boogie you know I'm still happy if I do finish down five it's not the end of the world I'm just trying to have a good round and a good rating and 967 right now is what it says it's actually the next morning and I am sitting here got a surprise with where everything shook out but then I remembered how hard like did back four or five holes are because if we go ahead and look at ma1 right now sitting in second place which is really not bad um solo second one stroke back from the lead but I'm trying to think about that because every time that I've been playing this tournament people in the lead don't make mistakes like everybody but real quick the rating for the round is actually 973 because a lot of mpo guys came in who were playing the same layout had similar scores to me I would be tied for middle of the pack and mpo right now which is pretty solid 973 for feeling unconfident about my play yesterday is pretty solid I'm hoping that I can just get that putting confidence back and just focus on that trick of keeping my wrist cocked as I go down and spinning the putt out I feel really confident going into today and hopefully I can just throw the disc well and play a good round back to me in the past if you want to see a lot of the holes and me practicing for this check that video out right over here super stoked for tomorrow and trying to go in there with a good mental game of I'm not going to focus on winning I'm just going to focus on playing my game not screw myself over which is what I tend to do in second rounds and final rounds and try to play good disc golf
