welcome back to Bonanza disc golf today we are in the city of West Chicago at Crest Creek Farms park because I have a tournament coming up here this weekend so we're going to get a practice round in and walk you through all my thoughts as I play and practice the course we did a similar thing last weekend and I actually ended up winning the tournament we're going to practice putting later but honestly not too much on the course if there are any interesting baskets we will practice those but for the most part I'm trying to figure out Landing zones the right shots let's get on to Hole one and see how we're gonna attack this course all right real quick let's actually talk through my bag putt with Piers which are actually new Piers this week because I won my tournament and I switched them out and then my other throwing Putters are two Piers hair tie and a Toro I actually took the zone out of my bag but I wish that they had a Toro in a not so premium plastic like a pro that's just wishful thinking I might switch back to zones but I think I'm just gonna try to bag the Toro this tournament because that's all I threw last tournament my mids I throw a Justice a fuse and then two emac truths this one is a lucid X glimmer so it's slightly more overstable and now we get into the fairways which are actually pretty new as this week because I took some tournament winnings bought a Ricky Explorer I think this is a opto ice Explorer I have just my beaten opto Explorer which actually I think flies similar to this new recycled explorer that I also bought then we also have the river for a disc that's not going to have a lot of finish but we'll go very straight I do need to figure out a good Firebird slot because I have this 2021 Jeremy calling Thunderbird as well as this old beat-in Champion Thunderbird and as always for distance drivers I have Three Graces and two Rives in various levels of stability I bought a force because I thought it'd be more overstable but it's not more overstable than my most overstable ride I need to find another Super overstable disc 25 bucks on a tour series for us was a little bit much to pay out of my tournament winnings to not even get what I wanted all right hole one is 332 feet kind of just to the left of that big tree the trunk that's out there it could be a big turnover but I'm thinking just a wide forehand to start off the day would be good we're gonna try a couple throws here get a little bit warm I'm thinking this is either a Thunderbird because it is slightly downhill or even a Grace disking up to a Grace if I push it slightly past the basket I'm fine but let's see if we can figure this hole out so wobbly okay I need to put a little wider in that and that's pretty short that's much better oh yeah that's a really good shot a little from the more Flex I think that's probably parked I do really like this grace on a forehand though so I'm gonna try just a forehand hyzer with the grace so I'm just throwing on me apparently a little too much hyzer so maybe you need to throw that a little straighter try my other Grace there we go that's really solid all right I would try my Rives but I don't think I need to because I don't like throwing 13 speeds on my forehand unless I'm trying to flex it because my forehand isn't very fast yet all right just to make sure this video isn't like an hour and a half long I think we're going to split it up between the front nine and the back nine that way we can get all my thoughts and you guys can see all the holes so that when I do my tournament Vlog at the end of the week you'll know what holes I'm talking about as I talk about them on holes like this which are open and there is Opie all the way down there it's not super important for me to really figure out like Landing zones I know the landing zone is by the basket it's much more important for me to see ground play and with this elevation change how are my discs actually flying because honestly right now for me this is more of what my field work has been looking like as I've just been playing courses and practicing oh see that's good to know that Grace Super hyzer way short and down the hill and this is not how I would recommend to do field work I would definitely say doing field work is more important than just playing around at horses but if you don't have the time to go and do a field work or if you just don't like it and you don't want to like become a super professional or whatever definitely just go to your course and throw a couple extra shots on every hole and like work on something while you're doing it I will be doing much more field work because this is the last tournament I've had one every weekend and I've been filming a bunch of videos with you guys during this time so I've been a little bit hectic for me and as I get into this off season for myself I definitely need to work on forehand because I'm not pushing my forehands far at all there's a lot of rust in these baskets but we do have the grace over here so honestly probably it's gonna be a Grace for me I do need to warm up I'm not very warm right now so I'm sure that'll help come tournament time but it's good to know that I can disc up to a driver and not overshoot the basketball much especially if I leave it out pretty wide hole two 243 there's a big stump out there and the basket is just on that tree stump all the way out there which is super cool one thing that's interesting is at this short of a distance I can essentially reach it with any of my discs am I Overexposed but I would probably throw something like a putter which or like one of my slower mid-ranges which the Toro is so Toro or zone or probably a pier I could also throw a mid but I think I'd overshoot it a little bit and this is pretty perfect Torah range but I still want to practice the straight shot just in case I'm really not feeling that overstable spot where I'd rather throw something a little bit softer and give it a rip real fast with the top it's a little bit too far to the right but that should yeah let's get the real nice give us a little circle look now we'll go Pier straight at it that's perfect both of those are really good options oh yeah all right so we got the pure just like a drop in right here even this though is scary with how tall it is and the Toro is a little bit behind good to know these trees are in front so if a Highs are in front I'll have a look in front but this is one of the holes that I actually want to practice putting on because I don't practice putting on top of baskets that are on top of stumps so I want to give it for like 15 20 30 feet hopefully no one's behind but we can really get a look at how high do we need to putt and then what happens if we miss and hit the cage and roll away looks like not a lot I'll just do some more practice putting real fast see how everything feels before we move on it's awesome it's pretty close over on this side so this might actually I just realized this if I throw it a little bit too inside like I don't throw it that far to the right and mulch line comes into play pretty fast on this side so I'm gonna practice a putt from just inside of a meter up there in case I go OB but I think the pure might definitely be the play because it's never going to finish that hard yeah it's not an easy basket to put up to if anyone has tips on putting on these please let me know and I'll try them out in a video I'm glad there's no one behind me I was removing the hole three one interesting thing that I'm thinking about is hole one there is definitely that turnover line like with a fuse or maybe my flippy emac truth I might try to practice that not right now but later today or tomorrow I'm going to come back and just do another practice round that I don't film because filming takes so much energy but if you watch my last tournament Vlog especially the second one you saw I was getting a lot more comfortable with the turnover anyways so might as well try that turnover line because if it's an easy line if it flexes out I'm on the left side of the basket not going down the hill and it might just have a better ground place no it would be here 276 just straight ahead of us but there is a low ceiling probably end up throwing a mid I'm gonna try my emac truth my flippier one and my fuse both of this that we were just talking about go in the basket pretty solid that did Skip down and because it sloped that way having to just start hyzering before that tree is not good that might actually bode well for the fuse here no I flipped it over too much let's see what a simple Explorer and Thunderbird just around that tree skip shot okay that's parked see if I can replicate a guy with a Thunderbird you do bring these branches into play first though and that little tree but it parked it so yep and that's the problem hmm I'm gonna try my other images that's still just wanting to start finishing to the left those are in pretty much the same spot and I really like that first Fairway but then the second one just hit the tree okay the one big positive I will say about this Thunderbird line is there's still actually a look and it's the only line that actually got me like parked I mean you missed that line you're basically a conceding par at that point which is what makes this probably a pretty decent hole the Explorer is just absolutely parked and then over here is really I think what we're looking at if I throw that emac truth a little bit flatter and a little bit lefter but they both have a putt I mean money truth is here just at the edge of circle the other emac truth is probably just outside the circle right down here because that brings us a little bit closer even on our Miss that's probably going to end up being my play but if something feels really good in the moment might switch it up hole four here has OB on the right side the basket is straight through 360 feet so it could be a big turnover with an overstable disc I don't think my forehand can get there there is a big Hazel line but I don't really want to bring that tree into play and keep my disc out of bounds I might try a river it's a seven seven negative one one pretty flippy leave it out there and then have it come back foreign yeah that one's just over the basket I think that's probably my tournament play I don't need to throw any of these super overstable guys I will give the forehand line a chance but especially to save my body I think it's definitely going to be that backhand let's arrived I think it's gonna be about 50 short that might be inside the circle but that backhand turn over line with that river is pretty good that's going to be my shot and then my ride but if I just leave it wide enough even if I have an edges Circle putt from the left side that's still a circle putt 307 feet right there so it's just gonna be a mid-range play gonna practice both my emac truths because I want something pretty stable at the finish I think I'm gonna try my more stable one first it might be a little short didn't feel great did not put that very straight I put it a little bit up that's a lot better I like that disc a little more too it's got more flip up got more ah those might be in the same spot it might be a little longer than I think should I throw my mids a little bit harder also just gonna try Thunderbird real fast and I think we figured out the play here oh it is also uphill so there is that to contend with sounds a little bit pulled to the right and it's not quite overstable enough to get back all right my spread is not as good as I thought here's my first emac truth which I threw a little nose up it's like any mattress is better just outside the circle this might be sneakily more uphill than I think Thunderbird is pin High just a little bit to the right so a little bit longer than it looks it plays a little longer at least it's super helpful to figure out how long a hole plays instead of just how long it is because that one plays maybe 30 feet farther at least for me right now than I would have thought so probably just gonna throw explore maybe even a flippier Explorer the hyzer flip up there because this one is 297 feet not very far probably a putter or a mid I don't think my Toro can get there but I'll still try it I'll try my zone and then probably gonna be my most stable emac truth just leave it out wide right and let it come back towards the basket everything downhill does become flippier so I shouldn't probably have put it out that far oh good little kick but throwing it a little farther to the right is not a good play slightly more straight at it not as much flip up as I'd expect from that disc honestly and that's definitely out of play this one also looks like it seems to be playing a little bit further I'm going to try Toro I just think it's probably way too overstable of a disc yeah I had to put a lot into that and it's really short wow yeah I need to throw that more down the hill do you want to play through all right crazy idea but if something is on udisca maybe it's wrong because this was I was ranged at 340 feet so definitely Fairways definitely need to probably take out the range for the rest of these holes because unisk has been a little bit off I wish that when you create a layout for a tournament you put in the actual distance I know that sounds insane but we'll throw my other two explorers and my Thunderbird I'm gonna throw it flat and down the hill at that tree on the right and it should finish close to the back yep get a get a finish ah he just smacked that tree maybe I need more hyzer that's ah Anthony oh my gosh all right I'm just gonna go straight at it with this one that's a good throw slightly more of a stable disc than that Thunderbird which is that Explorer that's already down there that blue one on that Thunderbird line okay honestly down here everything is a little closer this Toro actually is a putt all my emac truce and Piers which are just kind of chilling over there kind of Halloween I think the name of the game is just keeping something in this kind of corridor so honestly that tour wasn't bad here's where the last Explorer landed though so honestly pretty solid look I think we got all the discs all right here we got hole seven it says 310ish feet not the basket that's straight in front of us actually up into the right there's a Mando off the edge of that tree line that we have to hit I'm wondering if the play for me is just pitch up Pitch up take a par I will try some forehands but I'll also just try to basically Park that basket pitch up and take apart I have no idea where this basket is haven't seen it yet I'm gonna try just to throw the pure first on my layup hat that's fine we're going uphill so it's gonna be a little short but as long as I have a look around and we'll see if I do should be fine I will try the fuse which is a little scary because it's finishing to the right and there's a Mando on the right side that's really good shot that's a really good shot now let's see about a Grace the more stable Grace and then I'll try some Rives on a forehand if this Grace doesn't seem to work out just gonna try to flex it through this Gap and have it start to go a little bit right at the other oh yeah that's so good I really trust that Grace on my forehand right now I'm going to try this ride that's tough good kick I'm gonna try my other arrive and then my medium stable Grace that's the other Rive get around it all right that barely made the mando yep burn it over if that Grace plate isn't like within the circle though I'm probably gonna lay up because for me I don't want to take the chance of either missing the Mando from an early release in my forehand since I haven't done a lot of forehand field work or going off early to the left and having to make a hero shot I'd rather just pitch up to where that first basket is and I imagine that'll save me some strokes and I'm all about trying to save Strokes on the field and just play my lowest score at the highest percentage possible okay I'm a little confused because the B pins up there uh but it's not it and it says that there's a Mando this tree there's a drop zone I don't really get it also this is for sure gonna play like Par Four because all that high grass is Hazard so I'm for sure pitching up to here up to there is fine where my fuse is Grace is still safe it didn't get all the way to the tall grass but it's not a better shot than my fuses second Drive is a decent shot as well none of them are like in jump out rage so we're gonna act like we're playing to that b pin but I just emailed the tournament director because he said that he set the whole course up but how is the whole course set up if it's in the wrong position a little pitch up with the Toro this was a very low shot I don't want to throw this out again and definitely get up into that clearing but even from here hit the mando that's four feet from the basket where the basket would be this is similar to whole 16 and 17 if you're watching last week's tournament where I imagine because of this Mando you're gonna have to get a crazy skip off of this relatively decently thick grass which you're not gonna be able to get a skip a big flare up there I think there's probably going to be in the whole tournament everybody the four birdies okay shout out to the TD mark because he actually got back to me like right now he said that it's gonna be installed for round two I guess they're switching the layout I don't know what they're switching between round one and round two though so this is gonna be so interesting I feel like I'm not actually gonna be prepared but I'm gonna try to be prepared but hold number eight red granite path plays as River OB all tall grass is Hazard so you throw from it with a stroke 491 feet Par Four looks like it's up and then around I'm gonna go take a look at it real fast just to see what everything looks like this is probably going to be a mid-range mid-range play you only need 250 feet there might be some people who go for it but I don't have 500 feet of power yet oh it's actually not crazy but this whole Fairway is just lined with Hazard I think if you throw to where I am or slightly in front of me it's a perfect shot because you're super straight 200 feet in I'd imagine it's going to be fused or emac truth the shot doesn't look insanely terrible then just to see I'll throw my more stable Grace as well like there's no need at all to get aggressive just get up to the top of the hill pitch up take a birdie okay that disc might be too understable good to know really good to know Kaiser flip the CMAC truth along this right side it should stay flat and then barely finish at the end much safer play much much safer play not a far shot not a good shot but super safe I think that's actually a balance that might be really far down the Fairway it might be a Toro shot could also be the emac truth so I do think I'm gonna try to throw the Toro but the good thing to know is especially from this position the best way to get it in the Fairway is to throw a big hyzer so something that goes out to the right and comes back to the left because in that motion if you miss it by a little bit you should still be safe like I missed that a little bit inside right but it should be very short actually not with the emac truth again just two in a row super simple that actually looks a little bit smaller of a green than I like that might be in Hazard definitely pays to be farther up there so you can see the green because I cannot the second emac truth is a much better position where I am able to see things not a bounce that's the problem right here boom Hazard so I'll be throwing three from there all right Toro's actually inbounds emac truth is up there and also inbounds right in that shadow of the basket it's actually a lot more generous up here as long as you don't land on this path which is River but to be honest from this position if I would have my fuse or even my pure it might have even been better than throwing that hyzer because if I throw it straight at the basket that might actually be better the Heiser does open up a lot of the Fairway but throwing it straight probably a little safer shot I just didn't have my fuse and I didn't want to move my pure there all right hole nine last hole of the front nine I don't even know if I'll be able to get the back nine in hope you guys have learned a lot so far if you have drop a like or if you just like hanging out because I really appreciate it the whole nine looks pretty simple elevated basket which is gonna make things interesting definitely want to practice putting on that just like we did on hole number two only 264 feet though so I'm kind of between Toro here again probably Toro is interesting thing because this is the range that I trusted my zones in but the Toro slightly more overstable that was a really good putt so I think I can get it there I'm just not 100 sure but I do like the snap that comes out of my hand so I'm just gonna try to throw it flat to the right and have it finished towards the basket if it gets there definitely what I'm throwing otherwise I'll try maybe a Justice honestly I don't normally throw Justice off the tee and super knows up first for no reason at all that came out so short I don't like having to throw things super super hard so I don't like that result let's try to adjust this real fast that thing because oh that's really solid actually because that doesn't go super far that depends on where that actually is Justice might be a good shot I'm going to try the pure now just on a straight line this is the realness y'all I'm really tired I haven't eaten enough or drinking enough today my body is like buddy I'm shutting you down so I'm definitely gonna film the last half tomorrow I probably I won't even play it I'm sure I'll have a lot more juice come Saturday because I only got five and a half hours of sleep last night and I feel myself terribly and I already played a full round and shot a full video kind of excuses but also just kind of reasons that go into your practice round which aren't things I'm going to bring into my game round and so because they're coming to my practice round I need to note that let's try this emac truth here no man stop it I want to put it under the basket and that's the left I don't think it's bad practice it's just good to realize that and like I've been thinking in the back of my head now it's all coming together on this hole where my body's like you're done buddy fun shots let's see where those landed and if everything pans out please subscribe because I have another video probably coming later today with the second half the grass doesn't look crazy so I honestly might run something from back here especially if I just keep it lofty and floaty that's bad oh wow I was right on the distance because Justice probably will end up throwing here Justice boom parked I can put it like that I'm so tiny dude that's gonna be it for me for now I need to take a nap you can watch last week's practice video right over here there's a lot of really good stuff in that video that pertains to a different type of course because this is a little bit different I'm excited these first nine holes everything is getable except for that b position on hole seven because I don't want to I might be able to but no need to go to sleep hopefully no one throws in on us subscribe because I'll see you in the practice round video later today
