Alessandra Lance's vision for creating a community of women who share her passion for disc golf has taken root in Boulder, Colorado. Since founding the Boulder Ladies Disc Golf Club (BLDGC) in 2017, Ali has worked tirelessly to grow the club's membership through regular ladies' events and word-of-mouth invitations.

Under Ali's leadership, BLDGC has become a hub for female disc golfers from across the state of Colorado. In 2024, the club hosted weekly tag matches and monthly doubles events, drawing over 60 different women with varying levels of experience. One of the highlights of the season was hosting the PDGA Women's Global Event (WGE), which featured an impressive 72 competitors and cemented BLDGC as one of the largest WGEs globally.

Ali's dedication to fostering a community of female disc golfers is evident in her words: "Watching them grow and excel on their own disc golf journeys has truly been incredible. I wholeheartedly believe that my calling with disc golf was and is to establish and grow this group, and to encourage female participation in this sport."

Building on the momentum from 2024, Ali and BLDGC are now preparing for another milestone event: the Rocky Mountain Women’s Disc Golf Championships (RMWDGC) presented by Discmania. Scheduled to take place at Purple Park in Superior, Colorado, from August 22nd through August 24th, this prestigious tournament has a rich history dating back to its inception in 2011.

Doug Bjerkass, the current PDGA Executive Director, was instrumental in launching the event, which initially featured champions such as Paige Pierce and Sarah Hokom. The RMWDGC continued on a biennial cadence until it was temporarily relocated to Woodland Park in 2023.

This year, under Ali's direction, the RMWDGC will return to Purple Park, featuring a mix of junior and professional divisions that have drawn women from across the country. With an average of 109 female competitors each year between 2015 and 2023, this event has earned its reputation as one of the largest ladies-only disc golf tournaments in the USA.

Local disc golfers can get involved by registering to caddie for players or volunteering their time. Spectators are also encouraged to attend and cheer on the women competing throughout the weekend. Player registration opened on May 1st, with a remarkable 38 ladies signing up within the first 24 hours alone – representing 26 different cities across five states.

As Ali continues to pave the way for female disc golfers, we celebrate her achievements and invite everyone to join us in Superior, Colorado this August for an unforgettable experience.
