The wait is over for disc golf enthusiasts as the 2022 Texas State Disc Golf Championships presented by Latitude 64 get underway this Friday at Lindsey Park in Tyler, Texas. The best players from around the world will converge on the park's newly designed course, "The Thorn," a hybrid layout crafted by Rose City Disc Club and 2018 PDGA World Champion Gregg Barsby.

Lindsey Park has been a staple for disc golf tournaments for decades, hosting three courses that have hosted numerous PDGA-sanctioned events. The new course design combines elements from the Dogwood, Hickory, and Cedar tracks, featuring nearly 10,000 feet of play for both men's professional (MPO) and women's professional (FPO) divisions.

The MPO field will tackle a challenging 9,772-foot layout with 63 par holes, while the FPO division will face an 8,986-foot course with 67 par holes. The new design promises to test even the most skilled players, with 11 holes over 450 feet and dense woods and tight obstacles waiting to catch out any mistake.

Defending champion Ricky Wysocki will be looking to add another title to his impressive collection of 12 wins in the Lone Star State. However, this year's competition promises to be fierce, with top players such as Chris Clemons, Luke Humphries, Niklas Antilla, and Vaino Makela vying for the top spot.

The FPO field is also stacked, with Holly Finley, Valerie Mandujano, Maria Oliva, Catrina Allen, Paige Pierce, Kristin Tattar, Jessica Weese, Rebecca Cox, Holyn Handley, Kat Mertsch, Kona Star Panis, and Erika Stinchcomb all gunning for the top prize.

For those unable to attend in person, the Disc Golf Network (DGN) will be providing live coverage of the event. Active PDGA members can subscribe to the DGN for exclusive post-produced coverage, touring pro interview series, podcasts, and other segments. The final round on Sunday will also be simulcast free on the DGPT YouTube channel.

A press conference featuring some of the top players will take place on Thursday from 2-4:30 p.m., live on the DGPT's YouTube channel. The event schedule can be found at PDGA.com, where fans can also access official scores, tee times, and round ratings.

The Disc Golf Pro Tour is once again teaming up with Gatekeeper Media to bring viewers an exciting post-production video coverage package, featuring some of the top players in action on "The Thorn" course. Don't miss out on the thrilling competition as the world's best disc golfers face off in the Lone Star State!
