Smugglers' Notch Disc Golf Festival Continues to Thrive

The Green Mountain Championships (GMC) has solidified its position as one of the premier disc golf events globally, drawing in over 275 players to Smugglers' Notch Resort in Vermont. This A-Tier event has experienced rapid growth since its inception in 2014 and continues to attract top talent from around the world.

The GMC is just one part of a larger festival that celebrates adventure and northern Vermont culture. The Fall Festival offers a wide range of activities, including mountain biking, rock climbing, and disc golfing, as well as live music, local food, craft beer, and cider. The event's focus on community engagement has led to the establishment of a village fair, where Innova-sponsored clinics are held for middle school students.

The 2015 GMC saw some of disc golf's biggest names in attendance, including Ricky Wysocki, who successfully defended his title as three-time champion after posting an incredible 1100-rated round. Paul Ulibarri and Nate Doss finished second and third, respectively, while Tyler Grady from Maine made a surprising fourth-place finish.

On the women's side, four PDGA Pro Women's World Champions competed, including Val Jenkins, who held the lead for three days but ultimately fell to Catrina Allen in an impressive six-stroke victory. The Masters division also featured notable players, with Jay "Yeti" Reading securing an easy win.

Event Director Jeff Spring emphasized the importance of community engagement and the impact it has on the local disc golf scene. He expressed excitement about growing this aspect of the event in future years.

Beyond the main competition, the festival saw a special beer release by Nate Doss and Fiddlehead Brewing Company, which was met with great enthusiasm from attendees. The event also featured live scoring, high-quality video coverage, and innovative revenue streams through Vimeo's pay model.

As the GMC continues to grow and evolve, fans are eagerly anticipating what next year will bring for this unique and captivating event.
