Six-Way Tie for 2nd All Chasing Ricky Wysocki at the 2016 Green Mountain Championships | Professional Disc Golf Association
Date Published
Smuggler's Notch resort has emerged as the perfect venue for the Green Mountain Championships, offering an all-inclusive experience that combines exceptional disc golf with a picturesque mountain setting. Situated in Cambridge, Vermont, this resort boasts an impressive range of amenities and activities, making it unnecessary to leave its boundaries.
At the heart of the event are two exceptional disc golf courses: Brewster Ridge and Fox Run. Both designed by Tournament Director Jeff Spring, these courses present unique challenges that require skill, precision, and a good dose of power off the tee. While Brewster Ridge is dominated by dense woods, demanding accuracy and strategy, Fox Run takes advantage of the mountain's open areas to create dramatic elevation changes and expansive fairways.
The professional players have kicked off their competition with Round 1 on Brewster Ridge, with Drew Gibson and Jeremy Koling taking an early lead after shooting 10 under par (50). However, as the day progressed, more players matched this impressive score, creating a six-way tie for first place. The drama continued to unfold when Ricky Wysocki finished his round with a crucial par on hole 18, leaving him one stroke ahead of the rest.
Meanwhile, the women's division has been making waves in the early morning rounds, despite freezing temperatures. Paige Pierce stands at the top of the leaderboard with an impressive score of one under par (59), closely followed by Catrina Allen and other contenders who are within striking distance. As they transition to Fox Run for Round 2, accuracy will be key, as even a single bad hole can lead to a costly loss.
The scores from the event will be available in real-time on udisclive.com, while fans can catch the live broadcast of the Open division lead card starting at 2:00pm EDT on SmashBoxxTV's YouTube channel. Don't miss out on the excitement as the top players battle it out amidst the breathtaking scenery of Smuggler's Notch resort.
