Kristin Tattar Wins Back-to-Back PDGA World Championships

Kristin Tattar's impressive performance at the 2023 PDGA Professional Disc Golf World Championships presented by L.L.Bean has cemented her status as one of the best female disc golfers in the world. After five grueling rounds of competition, battling through challenging weather conditions and stiff competition from the top players globally, Tattar emerged victorious, claiming her second back-to-back World Championship title.

Tattar's winning streak began with an early lead that she managed to maintain throughout the tournament, despite a strong challenge from Missy Gannon. In the final round at Fox Run Meadows, Gannon narrowed the gap, bringing herself within one stroke of Tattar's lead. As the competition reached its climax, the two players engaged in an intense duel for the top spot.

"It's great to be in that sort of a battle," Tattar said in the aftermath of her victory, reflecting on the thrilling competition she had faced. "It's exciting to win against a player who is playing their best golf... I feel like Missy was really playing some of her best golf." Tattar acknowledged Gannon's exceptional performance and praised her opponent for bringing out the best in her.

The final round saw both players trading strokes, with Gannon taking some costly bogeys that ultimately gave Tattar a commanding lead going into the last hole. Although Tattar took a double bogey on the final hole, it was enough to secure her victory and claim her second World Championship title.

Missy Gannon's impressive performance at the 2023 PDGA Worlds earned her a well-deserved second-place finish, marking her best result at the competition and cementing her status as one of the top female disc golfers globally. Her exceptional play throughout the tournament was highlighted by her remarkable ability to hit fairways and sink putts with ease.

Tattar's dominance on the course was evident in her ability to limit mistakes and take only six bogeys and one double bogey throughout the tournament. With a total of 31.61 strokes gained tee-to-green, Tattar consistently gave herself birdie opportunities while avoiding costly mistakes that could have derailed her chances.

Tattar's achievement has significant implications for her career, as she joins Elaine King and Julianna Korver as one of only three FPO players to win four Major victories in a row. Moreover, with a victory at the upcoming United States Women's Disc Golf Championships, Tattar would become the first FPO player to sweep all Majors in a single season.

Reflecting on her achievement, Tattar expressed her gratitude for finding her passion in disc golf and credited it as the driving force behind her success. "I feel like I'm very lucky to have found my passion... But I actually found something I'm in love with, and that passion fuels my fire on the course," she said just moments after securing her second World Championship title.

As Tattar looks forward to her next challenge, the disc golf community eagerly anticipates what lies ahead for this talented athlete. The final playoff event at the 2023 MVP Open presented by OTB will take place in Leicester, MA in just 10 days, providing an opportunity for other top players to test their mettle against Tattar and the rest of the competition.
