The world of disc golf is abuzz with excitement as the 2024 Global Masters Series (GMS) has officially concluded, crowning new champions in each of its 32 age-based divisions. The thrilling season saw some of the sport's most talented players push themselves to new heights, with a total of five international winners among the ranks.
For Bobby Jones, a standout performance at the Tim Selinske U.S. Masters Championships secured his place as the MP65 division champion, earning him the top spot in this age group. Meanwhile, Ohn Scoggins continued her dominance in the FP40-49 division, breaking records and winning two elite series events throughout the year.
The GMS standings were determined by calculating each player's average best eight round ratings across all divisions they competed in during 2024. The rankings saw constant changes throughout the season, with exceptional performances from players like Cale Leiviska (MP40-49) and Brian Schweberger (MP50-54), who added to their impressive collections of wins.
In the professional divisions, Su Mei Yang edged out a talented field to claim the FP60-64 title, boasting an impressive 952 top-eight average rating. Another notable winner was Randy Beers, who secured his spot as MP70-74 champion with just 12 tournaments under his belt. Beers' experience in masters-level events dates back to 1999, and he has accumulated four major titles throughout his career.
The amateur divisions also saw some impressive winners, including Danny McDonnell (MA65-69), Janet Cranshaw (FA60-64), and Patti Adams (FA70-74). Adams' undefeated record in the FA70 division was particularly notable, with six majors under her belt. International players like Touko Hänninen (Am Men 40-49) and Heidi Bergroth (Am Women 50-54) also made their mark on the leaderboard.
The GMS has set a high standard for the upcoming season, with many of its top performers already gearing up to take on new challenges. The 2025 Global Masters Series is now underway, with players from around the world competing in a series of events designed to test their skills and push the limits of disc golf excellence.
