Feldberg and Jenkins Crowned Champions of the 2008 PDGA National Tour | THE BUZZ Disc Golf

In a thrilling conclusion to the 2008 PDGA National Tour Points Series, presented by Woodchuck Cider, David Feldberg and Valarie Jenkins have been crowned champions in the men's and women's divisions. The prestigious tour, which represents the top tier of professional disc golf events, has been showcasing the sport since its inception in 2003.

The tour consisted of nine grueling events held across the country, starting with the Memorial in Scottsdale, Arizona in March, and concluding with the Vibram Open at Maple Hill in Leicester, Massachusetts in July. Competitors earned points based on their finish place, with the top four finishes used to qualify for the inaugural Drive for the Championship.

The Drive for the Championship consisted of three high-stakes events: the PDGA Pro Disc Golf World Championships, the United States Disc Golf Championship (or) United States Women's Disc Golf Championships, and The Player's Cup. The top 30 men and top 10 women in points from the NT series qualified for these events, with their total series points carried forward to determine cash bonuses and the title of PDGA Tour Champions.

Going into the final event at the Players Cup in Crystal River, Florida, Valarie Jenkins held a commanding lead in the Women's division. She not only secured her title but also made an incredible statement by dominating the event, winning by 21 throws over second place. Her impressive performance included a +5 total, which would have earned her cash in the Open division, and a staggering 64 (-2) in the first round, rated at 1018 on a course with a Scratch Scoring Average (SSA) over 66 – a record-breaking achievement by any woman.

In the Men's division, David Feldberg held a narrow lead over Nate Doss going into the Players Cup. The two friends and fierce competitors were neck-and-neck down to the final hole, but in the end, Feldberg emerged victorious with a slim eleven-point win in series points. His dedication and skill earned him not only the title but also a bonus check of $1,500.

The top ten men and top five women received bonus checks totaling $8,000, with the top five men and top three women also taking home National Tour trophies. The PDGA extends its gratitude to Woodchuck Cider for sponsoring the 2008 National Tour Points Series and the Drive for the Championships.
