Disc Golf Coach's Big Win Sparks Joy in the Central Ohio Community

Brad Schick's phone has been ringing off the hook lately, and it's not just because of his impressive disc golf skills. As a coach in central Ohio, Schick is teaching new players the game week-in and week-out, and his passion for the sport is contagious. "The sport is really taking off everywhere," Schick said, reflecting on the rapid growth of disc golf. "I'm seeing more and more people who are eager to learn and improve their skills."

Schick's own success is a testament to his dedication and experience. With over 30 years in the sport, he has coached numerous players and competed at the highest level. On Sunday, he put on an impressive display of skill and determination as he battled it out for the MP40 title at the 2021 PDGA Tim Selinske U.S. Masters Championships.

The competition was fierce, with Schick facing off against experienced opponents David Feldberg and Geoff Bennett. The tension mounted as the players navigated the challenging course at Harmony Bends, each one trying to emerge victorious. However, it all came down to the final hole for Schick and his opponents.

Feldberg, who had been in the lead earlier on Sunday, found himself in trouble when he hit the out-of-bounds on the 18th tee. This left Schick with a golden opportunity to claim the win, but he was not fazed by the pressure. "I definitely didn't make it easy on myself," he joked later.

In a thrilling finale, Schick lined up and sunk a clutch 35-foot putt, securing his MP40 title and adding another impressive achievement to his resume. With this victory, Schick joins an elite group of players who have won a PDGA Major title, cementing his reputation as one of the top players in the sport.

Despite his success on the course, Schick remains humble and focused on sharing his love for the game with others. "I was just hoping to give myself a chance and see what happens," he said earlier in the week, reflecting on his approach to the tournament. It's clear that Schick is more than just a talented player – he's also a coach who is passionate about helping others develop their skills.

As Schick continues to inspire new players with his expertise and enthusiasm, it's no wonder his phone keeps ringing off the hook. His dedication to the sport has created a ripple effect, spreading excitement and enthusiasm for disc golf throughout central Ohio and beyond.
