Countdown Begins for 2023 PDGA Amateur Disc Golf World Championship

The journey to the top of amateur disc golf has officially begun as the countdown to the 2023 PDGA Amateur Disc Golf World Championship commences. For those eager to compete against the best in their class, now is the time to take stock of their progress and prepare for the challenges ahead.

To be eligible for an invitation to the championship, players must first meet certain requirements. Firstly, they must be a current amateur-class PDGA member by December 15, 2022. This means maintaining their amateur status throughout the duration of the event in 2023. Furthermore, competitors must have participated in at least three PDGA-sanctioned events during 2022 to demonstrate their skills and dedication.

Another crucial factor is the player's PDGA rating. In the February ratings update, those with a rating of 970 (MA1) or 870 (FA1) or higher will gain access to the first tier of registration. Additionally, top points earners in both MA1 and FA1 categories will also receive an invitation to compete.

However, there are special instances for competitors from U.S. states with low participation rates in PDGA tournaments as well as international and Canadian players. These exemptions aim to promote inclusivity and diversity among the disc golf community.

As the registration process unfolds, potential competitors can expect a tiered system where different levels of eligibility will be met by varying criteria. This means that some players may gain access to early registration while others will need to wait until later tiers open up.

For those looking to compete in the 2023 PDGA Amateur Disc Golf World Championship, it's essential to stay informed about the specific requirements and registration process. With so many talented players vying for a spot, every detail counts, and being aware of the rules can make all the difference in securing an invitation.

With the clock ticking away, competitors have their work cut out for them as they strive to meet the eligibility criteria and secure their place among the world's top amateur disc golfers.
